United (H) Post Match Thread

Thank you Pep for ruining what could, should have been one of the best days of City’s history. Winning the Premiership with 6 matches to go would, I think, have been a record to be proud of. But No!! You couldn’t stop tinkering with the squad and wouldn’t listen to what the real fans were saying - “Get this won against the Rags and then have a real go against the dippers with a trophy under your belt and the fans right behind you”.
Winning in football becomes a habit and so does loosing. We, hopefully will still get the 2 wins needed to win the Premiership but this result will hang around our necks like an albatross to be brought up again and again over the years. The remarks, to fans, after the game attributed to you in the press indicate, to me, an arrogance which says that you may be the manager for the next year or maybe more but you will never be a ‘citizen’ in my eyes. Will I still be a City fan regardless? Of course! But to win the Premiership against the Rags should not have been underestimated by you and at the end of the season you will (may) have achieved just what Pelligrini did in his first year at City.
In my opinion, this result was waiting to happen because you will not understand the rivalry between the two clubs and the basic premise of put your best team out at all times and then put on substitutes on when you are winning against every team but much more importantly against the Rags
Come on City!

It was more a case of the tactics as opposed to the personnel once we were 2-0 up and our defensive set up especially at set plays left a lot to be desired.

If we had of taken more of the chances we created in the first half we probably would be champions by now.


This result means little in the scheme of things in the annals of history other than delaying the celebration provided we do what is required to do that in the remaining 6 games.

It's where you finish at the end of the season that matters in particular when you finish first.

I certainly won't be be dwelling on the defeats at Anfield 4-3 and home to Manure if we clinch the title this year and how its done.

As for the Chumps League I don't think we have the squad to go all the way yet and expect Liverpool to come a cropper in the semi's.

Really lucky he plays for us, wouldn’t get the sitters on a plate at any other club like he does for us every game . He’s probably missed 15+ open nets this season. His finishing is a joke and you just can’t rely on him, not good enough for a top team.
 
It hurts so much even after waking up. Feels like league was lost yesterday. Probably never been so dissappointed over a defeat in recent times.

Players are the only one to be blamed not pep. They didnt take respnsibility im second half
 
Talking to each other on the way back we got to grips with it. Shame though it was. The wailing and nashing of teeth is strong on here still.

One of the reasons I would suggest but certainly up there with the main ones.

We continue to lapse in concentration especially at set pieces for periods of the game and sometimes we get heavily punished for that.

Some sides are not good enough or don't get the rub of the green to capitalise on the opportunities we present.

Despite the fact it will take some time for VAR to bed in I think because of the way we play we will get far more decisions missed by refs for us than against us in the future.

Penalties and off sides despite some subjectivity on occasions surrounding them will have more of them correctly adjudicated on.

Any ref that would have taken a look at the Young challenge on Kun and still ruled it as a fair challenge would be looking at a long time on the sidelines on reduced pay.

I doubt even the likes of Aitkinson would want that to happen to him as he can claim poor positioning or whatever at the time but the replay doesn't lie and while the perception he is bent doesn't subside it would make it nigh impossible for him to not say to the world he is if he ruled the same under VAR.

He has no clue on what a derby is and what clinching the title in one means. El clasico is bollocks,they dont live in each others pockets.
After that starting 11 somehow got a 2 nil lead we should have changed it at HT.very poor but to then wait till we are losing to try to salvage something was criminal. You could see all game the ref was at it,only a question of time before he upped his game.the only way to combat that is to score enough goals that he cant harm you.you dont do that by leavimg the best striker in the hisrory of the prem on the bench. This seasons best player- kev, on the bench, madness. worse still he takes dave off who with kevin has destroyed teams. All for what? A fucking cup that we dont care about and of which we'll never be allowed to win anyway.

While missing chances obviously hurt us our defence is the main problem. People might say our defensive record is good but that is because most teams are scared to attack us. Almost anytime it is put under pressure it cracks

Look at Stoke at home, we absolutely battered them, 3-0 up and from nowhere we are back to 3-2. Actually yesterday was similar except we only scored two and the rags got three. Slaughtered them first half, second went to pieces at the back. Otamendi has gone backwards and Danilo was dreadful yesterday. Ederson for all his great distribution and footwork is becoming Bravo like in keeping attempts on goal out.

We look shattered at the minute and desperately need some rest. Hopefully we get it together and get the five points we still.need to win this league.

I would understand keeping Aguero rested for Tuesday, but Gabriel Jesus too? I'm pretty sure Gabriel would have scored from those chances Sterling had.

There was an instant uplift in our game when Aguero, Jesus and De Bruyne came on, so why wait till 75 minutes, when normally we do the substitutions at 60-65 minutes on ?? Why keep Sterling on after that horrendous performance. I wouldn't have been surprised if he had been hooked at half time.

Sterling needs to work on his finishing than thinking about his contract renewal. We want that Sterling back who always popped up at the last minute and single-handedly won all those games for us

If Pep also comes to the same conclusion then it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't extend his contract and is persuaded to join the rags.
Nightmare stuff I know but after seeing baconface sat next to that **** Gill nothing would surprise me with them ****'s.
 
Team selection was all wrong for second game in a row, play your best team, win the league and take the feel good factor into the next game.

Chance to win the league against your rivals and Pep lets us down I'm afraid.

Yes and no. At half time 2-0 up and absolutely dominating it looked like it had worked big time. The rags were chasing shadows and the only question was how we weren't 5-0 up and how many we would get in the second half. While it was a niggle the missed chances might cost us nobody predicted that collapse from the first half showing.
 
Bring in the Fifa refs or from another country, I don't care. This nexus between FA and the referees needs to be taken apart.

That assistant ref was in the perfect position when Young threw Sterling over, and yet he decided it's not even a foul? And Atkinson was so far away but he was already waving his hands for no penalty before Aguero even fell to the ground. They are so brazen now that they don't even bother to hide it.

City should go and say to the FA that we are going to win the league despite your shite referees and obvious bias
