John Stones - 2017/18 performances

I wonder if Laporte will find himself ahead of Otamendi soon, Nico has cost us some pretty big goals lately his form has really gone down from the level it was at earlier in the season.

Pep s obviously been letting Laporte settle in gently but might make the switch after the Liverpool game for the rest of the season seeing as it's pretty meaningless.

i agree laporte should come in. id apply that to Vincent tbh. i know its only a few games, but hes looked quite fragile at the back/tired at times.

And then he got injured, and then came back and was out of form. Do you remember that part?

yes i do. players go in an out of form. that happens. right now the back 4 isn't working so id change it up and bring either laporte/stones back in.

tbf to both of them neither of them since coming back from injury or signing have been given a run of games to get back to form.

In our build up play yes we are, whether that compensate for the couple of mistakes that crept back into his game is a different argument. But with Kompany also making errors its probably time for Stones to get his chance again.

No no no, outside of the mistakes John's confidence was shot the last 2 few games he played. Mistake apart, his passing was equally diminished post injury.

I'm one of the biggest Stones fan. I'm just being honest about his game post injury. Even when you ignore the goal causing errors.

Again, I ask, which John? Pre or Post injury John? As tge answer is different. Better yet, why him and Vince and not him and Ota? As that 'better' football you spoke of happen playing next to Otamendi.

The John i saw play brilliantly for England 3 weeks ago.Otamendi is a good player but there always seems to be a bit of drama involved where hes concerned.I don't think he brings as much composure as the two i prefer.

Sam Lee and Ian Cheeseman were both told by someone at the Chelsea game that he was off in the summer , that Pep has lost faith in him

His absences recently seem to indicate all is not right

I’m hoping we move to a back three next season as it will really suit him

That would be a real shame IMO, Stones in his good form was the best defender we've had this season.

It would also be a very expensive decision, we'd lose minimum 20-25m on him.
