Booing the Champions League Anthem

Just to add because I think these are the main reasons for the booing: UEFA tolerates racism! We played at Porto and Yaya and Balotelli were subject to monkey chants however City got a bigger fine for having six players booked by that shit Turkish ref (I think at a push two were bookings!) and got more column inches in the paper because we chanted “you’re not incredible” at Hulk. Moscow fans subjected Yaya to more monkey chants and when Moscow had fans banned for the next season, they somehow had fans in the ground against City and Bayern despite City and Bayern fans not being allowed to travel. Then from previous monkey chanting Dynamo Kiev were told they had to play their Ro16 game behind closed doors but when they pulled City out of the bag in the Ro16 they were allowed their fans back again!

Also this constant rule changing of seeding.
Now even adding previous CL/UEFA success to club’s seeding points to keep clubs like Liverpool/United/AC Milan/Inter/Ajax etc. (who just happen to be old G-14 clubs, funny that eh?), who have been shit for ages and haven’t been in the CL much this decade, up the seeding charts when draws are made to make their draws easier when they don’t deserve it.

And how can we forget FFPR. Once that was thrown out they are now coming back with a second coming of it to hinder us again.

Plus we are not the only club who boo the CL anthem... Barcelona also do because they were fined for displaying Catalan flags during a game which was said to be a political statement (even though they display Catalan flags at all games, have the Catalan flag in their badge and even have Catalan flag as their away kit every few season!)
Legit Warsaw, Atlético Madrid, Benfica fans have all boo’d or displayed flags against them at some point

These are all extremely valid points, but I don't see how booing the anthem will benefit City. We just need to win it. For that, having fair officials would be a good start, and if UEFA continue to alienate us because they see us as disrespectful then that won't happen. A level playing field regarding officials would be nice.

Last night was good with chants of “City” overpowering the anthem itself. Prefer that to booing personally
 
Personally I don't attend Champions League games so it doesn't matter to me either way, but to suggest that somehow UEFA keep pulling this bullshit because we boo the anthem is naive.

Maybe if our top brass were that fussed about the booing they could perhaps reach down the back of a sofa and reimburse the fans who went to Moscow?
 
One definition of conspiracy theory - something that makes idiots think they're intellectuals. Too many conspiracy theorists on this site.

There are no dodgy draws, but we do get more than our fair share of shit decisions. Shit happens. Deal with it and move on.

UEFA are corrupt and they are anti City so we should continue to boo the anthem.

We will win the Champions League trophy one day and it will be no thanks to the mard arses on here who don't like the booing but can't be arsed turning up anymore; you won't be missed - just because you've been going for 30 years doesn't mean you're any use to the club - we'll be better off without you're luke warm support.

Booing the anthem only takes 30 seconds and then we get back to supporting City for the remaining 90 minutes. Booing the anthem and supporting City are not mutually exclusive.
 
Why should someobe give a shit what some one else is doing? For me as long as they dont boo City fill your boots
 
At this moment in our clubs history..it seems that a part of the supporters on here have no affinity towards the champions league.

We are for want of better words, still in our infancy in european terms. However we are, and rightly recognised by other club fans and pundits to be the best team in the english football.

Whether some fans on here care or not, our club will be measured on not just domestic success but on its european success.

Like most on here we never thought we would ever witness what has unfolded since 2008, but part of this process now is establishing ourselves as a true heavyweight in european football and I want my great club to prove that it can become just that.

Time to move on and embrace this competition now as one that we want to win and make all european nights at the Etihad a spectacle that is witnessed by those millions watching at home.

The club is doing its part to generate the atmosphere by providing the flags on the seats....watching that last night at our stadium was immense. What i would give for being able to have the 1894 lads being able to display a european flag marking us winning it the season prior !

They've probably got more empathy with the tourists and corporates than with the average City fan. I think prioritizing winning the Champions League is a bit fanciful on their part. It's a hit and miss competition unless you're Barcelona or Real Madrid. It's an ambition they may never realize. Does not winning it amount to failure for the manager and players? Why risk that?
 
It’s easy to spot the spineless amongst our fan base in this thread. The ones who are happy to bend over and take it because they either don’t care that our club get shafted on a regular basis or genuinely have no idea why we do it.
This club and it’s supporters have every right to be fucked off by the way we’re treated and if 30 seconds of booing is the only at we can make it clear how we feel then so be it. We might not endear ourselves to the wankers at uefa but anyone who wants part of their cosy cartel are as bad as the shitbags screwing us over on a regular basis.
 
I always have and will continue to boo the so called anthem. Uefa have made it clear that they don't want City at their table as they view us as upstarts. They are trying to maintain a cartel of who they believe are Europe's elite. Other clubs around europe are allowed to operate outside of their financial means but carry on with impunity where as we're brought to task. They pander to what they consider to be European royalty and change the rules accordingly. Totally corrupt.
When they show parity I may stop then.
 
I'd rather we boo it and never win it, than give in to UEFA and the other corrupt entities who sponsor it, organise it and run it, and win it.

Really winds me up how we are always shafted by UEFA, absolute bent fucking idiots they are. No positives about them whatsoever..!!

Have to say I am more anti-uefa today than ever before. I’m considering pulling out of the CL cup scheme, I can watch us get shafted for free on the box.
