I really cannot see Pep or the players settling for a fourth defeat in 10 days that would be turned against us by so many people in the media desperate to create a 'title race'.

I expect Pep has never lost 4 games on the run and he is a perfectionist.

Yes, the players look mentally and physically shot, but even if they only have one good half in them they also know win this and they could be champions before they play again (united only have to draw both games or lose one of them for that).

Either way they will WANT to celebrate it or win it at home, which probably would not happen if they lose Saturday.

You can always motivate yourself for a cup final. Which this might sort of be if it is the game that wins the title and being at Wembley helps make it feel like that.

Get it done and they have a month to rest. Drag it on and their preparation and relax before the World Cup is reduced by at least a couple of weeks as once won the team will be heavily rotated (why the record points thing likely will not happen).

Plus we have had such horrible luck and no rub of the green for three successive games that something has to go right for once.

3-0 at half time, we ease off Spurs score and we win 3-1.
Good post .
I like your idea of wanting to win league at home and this match would set that up- in fact it could virtually guarantee the title at the etihad .
Plus, United play away to Bournemouth 3 days before their FA cup trip to Wembley and surely won't play full strength for that ? They'd be crazy to do that .
If they only get a draw there the maximum they can get is 87 . We would already have that if we win at Spurs. Our GD is +66 , theirs is +38 . There is no way they will overhaul that .
Great incentive to win Saturday.

Some thoughts :
Put Laporte into Fern's position - Gundogan is better in attack than in defense and can come on in 2nd half to pack midfield . Laporte could do Fern's job i think.
Bring in Stones provided he is not injured
Sterling can replace Bernie who also can come on 2nd half as legs tire. Aguero will love the space of Wembley.
Need to curtail Eriksen if possible in this game.
KDB has not been himself of late. Far too deep maybe:-s
Woah, no way Laporte plays that position. For me he is the archetypal left sided central defender for a Pep team, hence why we acquired him for that fee. Gundogan in there for me running his balls off protecting the back 4 and supporting the attack as and when.

Laporte not really got the legs for holding mid maybe Delph could do a job in there but would prefer Gundogan as he's played the role this season and is better on the ball.
yeah I think Delph could do Ferns job as you say . He might even relish it .

Point taken mate.
It has been suggested that Delph could do Fern's job and I'm swerving to that right now .

Another defeat through crap refereeing looming?
Probably with Jonathan Moss as the hapless whistler.

Ikay took Fernandinho's place in the corresponding home Game and did a mighty fine job - so same again for me.

Moss is the comedy official for this. We might as well just turn up with 10 and give them a 2 goal headstart. We are onto a loser with that clown in charge.

Good shout. Maybe Delph, Gundogan as a two with Sterling, KDB, Sane then Aguero. Silva, Gabriel and Bernardo as attacking subs. Just a thought as Pep does change the formation now and then.

Gundogan might run his balls off protecting the back 4, but I havent seen much from him to suggest any defensive tenacity whatsoever - little evidence of him closing down with real commitment, or putting in any sort of meaningful tackles tbh.

A draw would be a great result. Would mean if we beat Swansea a draw at the Hammers and we have won it. Would take that now.

Is the correct analysis. Gets near no one to make a tackle and on the rare occasion he's involved in a 50/50 he'll pull out.
