We’re bombing Syria

So your point is that uses of chemical weapons prior to this date is ok?
My point is that they were not a red line

I’m glad the ban came in on them but unless the convention is enforced then what’s the fucking point?

Interspousal rape was legal in the U.K. in the 40’s. The fact it was illegal in the 70’s doesn’t mean the CPS were hypocrites in prosecuting rapists at that time does it.

The Americans probably would have withdrawn to their countless other bases in the region. I don’t know exactly why it didn’t happen, but I do know that the Saudis were preparing for something. It is common knowledge amongst the Saudis that activity at Saudi airbases increased enormously at that time.
It didn’t happen (if it ever was) because the Americans said no.

I even forgot my personal favourite: the US threat to bomb Al Jazeera’s headquarters in Iraq if they didn’t stop broadcasting the aftermath of US attacks. This from a state that proclaims its moral superiority. But nevermind that, Assad is the monster...

So it's not about an alleged chemical attack and us stepping in on grounds of human rights?

Is this the point in all weak arguments where you start to change the narrative?
I’ve not changed any narrative. I was responding to a different point made by another poster.
This latest response is clearly about a real chemical attack.

I care not for international law, which is only “enforced” when it suits the Americans. Funny also how it is fine for the Americans to themselves violate international law in order to “enforce” international law. Funny also how the US vetos any resolutions condemning their own or their allies violations of international law.

Also, the US has failed to preset one shred of evidence for its claims. They illegally attacked Syria on the very day the OPCW inspectors arrived in the country. Let’s not forget the they have a history of failed or forged intelligence on this very subject.

The U.N. is a failed organisation that acts only to provide immunity to its permanent UNSC members.

You blame America for everything don’t you .

Cheers:

The White House has dismissed the allegations made in the article.[2] Given that Qatar is an ally of the United States and the United Kingdom in the Iraq War, many commentators have speculated that even if the reports of the memorandum are accurate, they may simply be recording a statement which the President did not intend to be taken seriously. A White House official told CNN "We are not going to dignify something so outlandish with a response," and a Pentagon official called the Daily Mirror report "absolutely absurd."[3] A BBC News correspondent has suggested that if President Bush did indeed make the comments they were intended as "some kind of joke."[4]

As if they’d bomb fucking Doha from an airbase located 12 miles from fucking Doha.

Shock! The US deny their highly illegal and morally reprehensible threats... Go read in detail about the allegations before dismissing them on the basis of US denial.

Shock. The US hater believes anything negative about them!

I’ll ask again, you really think the US would bomb Doha, the capital of its key ally in the gulf? From an airbase locates ten minutes drive away?

Fucking stroll on. Atleast I now know to take everything you post with a huge dose of circumspection.

No it’s not.

It’s possible to believe he was tyrannical despot and to think he shouldn’t have been in power and also criticise the lack of forethought in bringing him down.
Bringing him down worked out well didn't it.

Ok. Please let us all know when you figure out what your argument is.

Qatar is not a key ally of the US. Qatar is a tiny gas rich state with zero ability to project power in the region. I don’t know why you have these delusions of Qatar’s status. Look again at the response of Trump when the Saudis cut all ties.

I understand that it is difficult to accept the facts when you have been subjected to decades of propaganda glorifying US crimes. The United States is a grotesquely evil entity. It is responsible for more death and destruction in my lifetime than all other states combined.

Just reading a book right now about the CIA. Absolutely shocking some of the stuff they've been involved in

Shows what you know.

Trump tweeted twice and was immediately silenced by his team whilst Tillerson took all further briefings on the situation and then spent a week flying between Doha, Kuwait City and Riyadh to ensure the situation didn’t escalate.

Qatar is indeed a key ally, houses the largest US base in the region and purchased over $12bn of fighter aircraft last June alone.

But yes we get it. You hate America. You’ve made that point clear along with your complaints about the UKs foreign policy and history. All this on a thread about Syria where you have failed to mention any acts by them or Russia. Myopic in the extreme but entirely in keeping with your posting history.
