From a personal stand point, i'd much rather we groom Vinny to become a manager than someone like Arteta who has literally zero affiliation to City.

It's unlikely "he'll take them backwards" but they are entering a period of transition now Wenger has gone. If you are old enough to remember, we were in constant transition for over 30 years. I can't see Arsenal being relegated but anything can and often does happen in football.Arsenal haven't been great the past few years but even still they are unlikely to drop below their current position of 6th as those below have a long way to go to break the top 6 so he can't really take them backwards. If they stay in 6th he won't have done.a bad job and if they move up from there he will be seen as doing a good job. He can't really fail at arsenal
Isn’t it a mix between Cruyff and Biesla?
Disappointing if true, hopefully he's not able to take too many of Pep's coaching secrets and tactics to Arsenal. We should have done more to keep him if Pep feels he's so important, double his salary or whatever. I'll be really fucked off if Arse start playing like us and become genuine title challengers now.
If Arteta is a good a coach as has been touted with Pep extending his contract it was never realisticto think he would stay on as an assistant manager for three more years, hopefully Pep will stay even longer. When such an opportunity arrives you have to take it and can only wish him good luck... On getting second.
Yes, you're right. I was talking off the top of my head from memory, and not doing some rapid Google history lesson about Pep.Isn’t it a mix between Cruyff and Biesla?
Yes, with Pep it's short stabbing quick passes - hence you need bottle to play for him and bottle to keep controlling firmly hit passes with the ball first touch, win it back rapidly etc. There's only so many ways to play football. Pep has an extreme brave style - full backs and centre backs that can switch to operating in midfield. What sets him apart from any other coach in my opinion is that he sees the goalkeeper as an outfield fly goalkeeper - plus of course he's the ultimate man manager. He took Cruyff's total football to a new level. Cruyff learned from Michels in the early 70s. Michels was inspired by Madrid and Hungary in the 50s and told Cruyff (his number 9) to do his magic all over the pitch. What I know Pep has talked about is keeping the ball in a small area on one side of the pitch against 'park the bus' teams. Eventually the opposition comes looking for the ball and loses its shape - 60 yard pass to the opposite touchline where in our case Raheem or Kyle is waiting.......Who says Pep just continued Cryuff's way of playing? I'm interested: as far as I can recall, I've never seen or heard anyone say that.
Pep's taken loads of ideas and come up with his way of doing things but my original point was that there's nothing in there he can patent, and other teams and managers do similar things i.e. Arteta is not going to be taking away loads of trade secrets that will suddenly make Arsenal an unstoppable superpower.
Listening to TS earlier and apparently his name is an open secret in coaching circles in regards his ability and reputation,he's very highly rated and considered the next big thing.
Maybe Arsenal are being very unArsenal like,by seizing the day.
