- Manchester City is my team - until I fucking die.
Are we to believe that was/is the only rigged draw ever?Football draws are not rigged
Must admit I never believed this until Platini confirmed it
Where have I suggested that they are/were in the same league as us? However, it wouldn’t be fair to set that as the benchmark for a team that plays with attacking purpose, not least because it would mean that we were the first to so do. That would be arrogant and plainly wrong. They had three world class attackers in their first choice eleven for most of that period, something we arguably have never had (Dzeko and Balotelli falling short to varying degrees). During the same period, their midfield was principally made up of Carrick, Scholes and Giggs, who all, to varying extents, display attacking intent at the heart of their game. Those six more advanced positions were ably assisted by the best defence in club football at the time - which conceded few, but that doesn’t mean they were defensive; to suggest otherwise would be absurd, which you haven’t tried to do tbf. That was by some distance Ferguson’s best group of players and they played the game far more positively than most title winners in the last 50 years. The fact that they fall short of our achievements might marginally diminish that achievement, but it doesn’t extinguish it, especially given that team’s record in Europe over that period.Even accepting that to be true, that was arguably more on account of having one of the greatest goalscorers of all time in their team rather than any swashbuckling brand of football. If you look at the number of goals that United scored in those 3 title wins (68, 80, 83), and then compare it to what we've scored in our title winning seasons (93, 102, 106), then they're not even in the same league as us. Tbf I've never actually heard a pundit or presenter who's not associated with United mention this 'United way' stuff that's popped up recently but even if they did at times play with some gusto, Arsenal were traditionally known for playing better football and even Liverpool, before we came along and elevated attacking football and English football in general to a whole new level.
