I think you are wrong when you say there is no reward though. The reward is that the asking price in not further inflated than it already is. If Txiki had the reputation of just paying whatever was asked for, the City-price would be even higher than it already is. The negotiations are worth it even though we end up paying close to the initial asking price anyway. I agree that the risk of not getting a player is real though, but that is part of the game. Our price is what we think a player is really worth, and we don't pay more than that. Alexis Sanchez says hi there. I think that is the only sensible way to go.No because my problem isn't with the scouting system Txiki clearly employs (he's excellent at finding the right player, rather than a name player like Ed Wood). My problem is with his high risk/no reward negotiating strategy. That's all.
