Riyad Mahrez

So, it was £75m yesterday, and now in the Gossip Column it's £60m.

So, as you all know what you're on about, what are we paying for him?

As long as it's [£5 million below what he eventually costs] or less, I'll find Txiki's work acceptable.

If we were to sell Sterling and/or Sane, how much would you expect them to go for? I'd rate both at at least £75m in today's market.
Are Sterling or Sane backup/squad/reserve players?

Nope - they're part of our regular squad rotation.

Same as Mahrez will be assuming that we sign him and he makes the cut.

What cut ?

Are we signing him to play golf with Pep.
"Makes the cut" means "makes the grade," "is good enough," etc. I'm from the States so perhaps this is an American idiom?

The phrase likely derives from sports where players need to be good enough or else they're cut from the team.

Bernardo cost more than Sane, Sterling, Silva, Agüero and Jesus. Did that make him a regular starter immediately? No.
But he's not - IMO - a "squad/backup/reserve/2nd string player."
B. Silva is currently played mostly on the wing where he doesn't fit at all.
I think Pep bought him to play centrally - but at the moment we have so much talent there that he doesn't make the squad in spite of his talent.
I'm not saying that B. Silva will succeed for us - I think he will but it's not certain - I am saying that I don't see him as a winger in our side.

Sane on his own would cost between £125m (Dembele) and £160m (Mbappe)
Sane has crazy upside - no idea how much he'd go for if we were to sell him (we won't, IMO, unless he insists on a transfer). If he can get some time in the WC and performs well, his value will go through the roof.

His recent performances in the German national team haven't been great though - not sure how much we'll be seeing of Sane in the WC.
