Jorginho

Karen, you hit the nail on the head....."we need a younger dinho is all" Thats also my point.....Jorginho is a good signing, adds to our strengths but doesnt upgrade our weaknesses....We need a younger dinho.....someone with a little steel, pace and non stop motor. Jorginho is a great footballer and one of the best in Europe at what he does but cannot fill that role and I think thats the "only" point some are trying to make...
I don't get caught up with players till they play for us under pep, dinho might be nother player we can never replace like for like

Should try and get kante from Chelsea. I like Jorginho but don’t think he will ever replace Fernandinho as out main break up man .

Pep isn't targeting Jorginho to do that.

Kante would be totally redundant in 80% of games and offer nothing in terms of passing.

We dont play a 'break up man', and never will in Peps ideal side.
Fernandinho is obviously crucial and does the dirty work well yes, but that position is more important for playing out and starting attacks.
Jorginho will offer massive technical ability and the skill to receive the ball anywhere from the back 3/4 in any stadium in the world. Kante just couldn't do that.

while i can see many positives...he is nothing like a younger Ferna in the way they play....Jorgihno is a better passer probably, Dihno is more of a dynamic player while from what Ivr seen now of Jorginho he is very disciplined in his positional play.
then we play a slightly different way

exactly

We still need that more dynamic defensive minded player for me......especially if Dihno does end his career in the next season or two (he surely wont go on much more than that?)

its not all about the way we play....we do have to consider the opposition as well. Don't get me wrong i think this guy is a good player but IF he is a direct replacement for Dihno then he wont fill that gap and it could leave us more exposed than we currently are (best defence in the league but Dihno has a lot to do with that)

we have him for 2 more seasons so plenty of time,he takes very good care of himself

Isn’t Fred quite a similar player to Fernandinho? Someone who is adept at DM, CM and AM etc.

I would suspect we will get one more season out of Fernandinho where he’s near the peak of his powers.

Could be wrong I havent watched but looking at the teams Mancini seems to be playing Jorginiho on a midfield 3 where we would play him and where we play Fernadinho so dont see why Pep couldnt

Pep said he wants to tweak a few things, add something a bit different.
That is why we are chasing a forward like Mahrez, a 1v1 expert with an unpredictable element, and a Regista in Jorginho.
Pep is more worried about failing to break down parked buses than anything else.

Dinho breaks up play in most games but a lot of the time it goes unnoticed . Every team needs a break up man in midfield and come next season we are going to need dinho more than ever next season as everyone is gonna come and play the Liverpool way .

agree mate.....Just like Silva, I see Fern playing alittle less this season....He'll be 34yr old before end of the season and alot of his game is based on pace, motor, etc....all things that age has an impact on....Even with Jorginho I think we'll still need to go shopping for another DM in the next 12months to fill Ferns role....In my opinion, I think a replacement for Fern would improve us alot more than another top class passer of the ball.

Not a chance, the only reason Liverpool can play that way is because of the quality to pressurise like their front 3 do. No other team has the capability and would get trounced if they tried it

Teams cant just come and play the liverpool way we will still face many parked buses. But if teams decide to press like liverpool and arent fully drilled and fit enough then Jorginho’s passing will cut through them.

surely if we have a better passer of the ball in midfield then they will be less losing it and dinho style tackling needed?

Yes mate.....Fred would have been a more like for like signing for Fern. I think changing targets from Fred in Jan to Jorginho in June is more to do with Pep wanting a replacement for Yaya. He said many times that Yaya was leaving when asked about our transfer plans at the end of the season. I think this just comes down to the direction we wanting to go in this window...maybe they feel we can wait another 12months before we look for a replacement for Fern??

I’ll tell you now next season will a totally different animal than this . Pep will know this and that’s why I think we will need some more bite in midfield. Or I might be wrong and we will once again walk the league

Should be wrapped up soon with the internationals out of the way.

If Jorginho is our only midfield target then Pep isnt looking for more bite,
