Yaya says Pep "does not like African players" - Pep says "he's lying and knows it"

That's fine, it's usually cold in the ground.

Absolutely loved Yaya Toure as a player, although it was clear to see he was on the wane ever since the 2013/14 season ended.

For me he will always be a playing legend, though these recent comments, if true, have tarnished his status a little for me.

I'm a little disturbed by the number of posters on here who seemingly were just waiting for an opportunity to "stick the boot" in where Yaya is concerned, I know I wouldn't want to be in the trenches with these so called supporters.

Posters like myself knew this was coming, called him out a bit ago for the MANY occasions he has brought shit on this club. Many argued back but these comments seem to be the final straw for many. The very few fans left still trying to defend him is mind boggling.

Haven't read the full interview, but from the quotes I've seen, it sounds like he's just having a go at Pep, not City. Of course, Pep as manager is an important part of the club at this time, but I think a few are extending the attack to make it about the club.

Personally, I'd be surprised if it were true, Pep's has frozen out and sidelined African and non-African players alike. For every Yaya there's a Hart, for every Eto'o there's a Deco.

I'd suggest that Yaya is bitter about initially being frozen out last season and then with the limited role he had thereafter. He's looking for justification and his ego won't allow him to admit that it was because his attitude, fitness and athleticism were lacking. So he's looking for a non-footballing reason and has come up with the idea that Pep doesn't like him because he's African.

I don't like it, but I'm not going to judge him for it. I'm a white male from a working/middle class background and have very little idea what it's like to be part of a social, cultural or ethnic group which has historically suffered from persecution or discrimination. If someone does belong to one of those groups, it must be very tempting for them to assume that that's the reason they're failing, rather than admit to themselves it's because they're just not good enough or working hard enough, etc. Especially when they've been as good as Yaya was.

On a side note, whatever he says off the field, he'll still be a legend in my eyes for the things he did on the field.

Fucking hell what a post this is.

We shouldn’t judge people playing the race card?

Maybe we shouldn’t judge women falsely claiming rape and getting innocent men locked up because we’ve never been sexually assaulted ourselves?

His accusations NEED judging, he’s smearing a man in public with absolutely no evidence at all.

Those who make outrageous claims need evidence.

Bollocks to your argument and bollocks to Yaya Toure

@Tom_mcfc

I believe what the players say about him not some trashy newspaper jumping at the chance for bad news relating to the club... .

They're direct quotes from Yaya there's no press spin here...

He deserves to be judged on his comments just like anyone else and imo he's an utter dickhead. If he's genuinely making a serious accusation of racism why do it in an interview where he also mocks Pep's mannerisms and says childish things like he's jealous?

I presume he's also contacted the PFA who should be his first port of call if he feels he's been discriminated against in his job, I strongly suspect he hasn't though because he knows the accusations are complete nonsense.

I'm white and from a working-class background and having the race card chucked in your face is not nice either. And let's face it, he's probably had his arse wiped for him most of his life. He's a fucking lunatic, both him and his agent. You just know there's more of his bullshit to come, so the sooner he fucks off from this league the better. Fucking greedy c@@t..

When all said and done, we'll still have the memories Yaya. Grow old gracefully man and shut up!

I think Yaya was an absolute beast for us and was THE one, that really put the fear of God into United, even in the Fergie years.
But he hasn't been good for quite a while and really has been on the wane for at least three years.
Pep is the first managaer that had the balls to drop him and deservedly so.
I would respect Yaya a lot more if he had the dignity to accept he doesn't merit a place in this team anymore.
I actually think he got more game time in his last season than he really deserved and would have prefered to have seen some of the minutes he got, given to a youngster.
Nobody can take away what he has achieved and the part he played in getting us to where we are now. But the truth again is, he didn't really have an instrumental part
in this, his final Premiership. This Premiership that was record breaking in all ways. This Premiership that saw us play a style of football never seen before in the league.
He had little to do with it and I don't think that sits well with his ego.
To say he was dropped for anything other than football reasons, is ludicrous.
Pep is already vindicated. He cleared out others before Yaya and as I said, Yaya actually got more minutes than he deserved.

Great player for us, but a complete knobhead. But he was our knobhead.
Now you feel he has no allegiances other than to himself.
Hope the reports are somewhat fabricated, but it really doesn't seem so.

It absolutely reeks of idiocy, attention seeking and, it seems to me, he's basically begging for United to come and sign him.

Trying to curry favour with their 600 million idiots.

I do hope some daft premier league club does sign the piece of shit next season so the greedy, egotistical gutless man child can be subjected to 90 minutes of vitriol at the Etihad, fuck off Yaya!!!!!

As for the "greedy c--t"

A few years ago when discussing Tevez on here, someone pointed out the marked differences between Tevez and his fellow countryman Pablo Zabaleta, the main one being Tevez is from a poverty struck background and Zabs from an educated middle class one
It was then compared to some African footballers who are from absolute abject poverty and are real rags to riches

The conclusion that was made is that a not so bright person from abject poverty doesn't understand how much money they have and are scared of it running out and then returning to poverty and you can add to that they will be extremely loyal to the person who rescued them

We're best off simply ignoring it. Don't even bother commenting, let it all die down. The wider football public and media that usually don't need an excuse to sink the boots in have seen his comments for what they are.

Paddy power taking a bet on whether pep is a racist or not.

That really doesn't sit right, I know PP are all about the banter but this is bad.

Good comment. Yaya pressed the self-destruct button. He lost his dignity, but no reason for us to do the same.

Pep shipped out Joe Hart without a plaque. Without a lifetime season ticket. Without a proper sendoff. He left like a man and didn't hold a bitter grudge. Yaya has single-handedly destroyed his own legacy. My only regret is that we gave him the sendoff that he was undeserving of and didn't ship him off a year earlier. Compare and contrast his behaviour to that of Zabaleta, a true legend of the club. Good riddance!

So he stayed an extra year on the bumper contract he was on, got a free PL medal barely playing at all, and now he slags off Pep the moment he is out of City? He wants to take revenge on Guardiola by joining one of the top 6 rivals? Wow, so to humiliate his former manager, he is even ready to punish his former club (that is, if he is ever able to), the club that made him a legend.

Must be all pent-up frustrations since being forced to apologize for the words of his agent. Clearly, he was of the same opinion as his loud-mouth agent despite his apology.

He may have done great things at City, even idolized by the younger players and fans, but he just brushed them all aside to cater to his humongous ego. Burnt his bridges. Shows he never cared for City or the fans at all (despite paying lip-service to the fans). So why should we?

After what he just said, I will be more sympathetic to the situation with Joe Hart than to Yaya and his agent..

Whilst spending the whole match doing an impression of a Sunday league player carrying a dishwasher on his back with our entire midfield making him look like a clown
