Riyad Mahrez

I wouldn't necessarily go along with that. Sanchez had his heart set on playing for us for a long time, probably about a year. In the end circumstances changed and felt he had no choice but to go elsewhere. If this drags on and becomes risky, Mahrez may feel he can't risk another year at Leicester and needs to get out. We're not blameless in this situation.

I dont see Mahrez anywhere else next season other than in sky blue. I do not believe for one moment his head would be turned, but I was responding to a poster who is becoming anxious because he has not yet signed and we may get gazumped at the 11th hr. If we are as far down the contract road as many on here seem to purport we are, I dont see it happening and if he did, his loss.

I like the fact that Pep seems to be needing players of a type rather than an individual star.
This allows our purchasing team options to walk away if the player, his agent or the Club feel we need only their player. Far better policy than just outbidding from a team perspective.

Irrelevant question, but does anyone know when the players come back for pre season?

If the silly little fucker had gone to a premier league club on loan like he was told we'd be able to value him at 3 times that.
tbf id take 15mil, complete unknown quantity out of the Glasgow Globetrotters. Didnt have the bollocks to go to a prem club or anywhere challenging on loan so probably would have meant he would be sat on the bench all year or in the stands.

Right... bit harsh this, I’m related to Roberts on my dear ol mums side & I can tell you now he was ovre the moon signing for City from Fulham even though they’re all red dippers on that side of the family. He wanted to stay at Fulham & learn his trade but City filled his head with him being with the first team & playing a part. He was promised he’d not be loaned out but was shipped out straight away. He was upset as that’s not what he was told would happen, the next season again promised the world to be sent packing again. What’s the lad meant to do? Decide to stay at a club he was appreciated, liked by fans & treated as he expected or go to a PL club & sit on a bench? He did what was right for him. Don’t get me wrong I love city with a passion, have done all my life but they have shit on Patrick.

I agree that was a harsh post you replied to but...

He wasn’t loaned straight out, he was with the team for the first 6 months and then sent on loan to Celtic for 18 months to develop further. On his return the club wanted to send him to another Premier League team to continue his development but he chose to go back to Celtic again.

How we operate with youth signings is common knowledge, he chose to sign for us and challenge himself to get into the team. That doesn’t come without hard work and on the outside looking in, he made the wrong decision to return to Celtic.
