Honestly, it would be a dream to sign Kovacic.
Twice the player Jorginho is imo, much more complete and younger.

Jorginho is too vulnerable physically and in transitions, while fernandinho isn't technically good enough under pressure.
Kovacic is the perfect blend of the two. His press-resistance on the ball is mad, one of the best in the world.
I'd absolutely love him here.

Kovacic played as a deep-lying 8 and DM in these Spanish Supercup games. I think watching this it becomes fairly obvious why he's not a good solution. He struggles to make progressive passes and always looks to run into space. The guy is a fantastic powerful dribbler, but lacks intelligence to play deep and would be a very raw material for a Guardiola team. Even if someday he fullfills his talent and becomes a top player, IMO it will be in 8 position.

Jorginho is in a different league in terms of vision and intelligence.
