It's a huge indication of how much we've grown in recent years, that our targets are now putting open pressure on their clubs to get to come here
I know scoring goals isn't his job but he's averaging fewer than one goal a season from open play since he joined Napoli and that worries me slightly. As in, it's really really bad.
Yes, scoring goals is a problem we really need to address this windowI know scoring goals isn't his job but he's averaging fewer than one goal a season from open play since he joined Napoli and that worries me slightly. As in, it's really really bad.
Are we flapping yet?
Thanks OB1, I just get fed up with some 'fans' wanting to give a negative slant on everything, we may pay largish fees, but we by no means "over pay" these days. In the early days we had to over pay, or nobody would have come, but even then if we look at what we paid for Sergio, David Silva, even Vinny, there's not a single true fan who could say we didn't get value for money out of them.IIRC, we signed Manga before Fernando, albeit in the same window, so "since probably Fernando" is probably correct.
I agree, we seem to be reluctant to go beyond the 50£ mark for our players then develop them into 100£ assets. Thanks OB1, I just get fed up with some 'fans' wanting to give a negative slant on everything, we may pay largish fees, but we by no means "over pay" these days. Our negotiating these days is good, it may take time to complete deal, but when spending around £50m I think that is realistic to expect. People often forget things like international duty, and even a players holiday at this time of year, and these complicate a deal considerably.
The most important thing is we get what we need for the right price, before the start of the next season.

Great stuff, well done City. The days of being desperate mugs are long gone
As I see it, all Serie A’s top clubs consider themselves part of of the old guard “European elite” and therefore, far to grand to ever complete genuine deals with “scuff bag newbies” like us.
After all the p*ssing about they gave us, back in the day, on the Kaka, Ibra & De Rossi “deals” I wouldn’t bother entering into any transfer negotiations with any top Seri A Italian club for the foreseeable future.
It’s a complete waste of time.
How is it a waste of time, if that is the player we want, you deal with whoever needs dealing with, thankfully we don't have a shithouse working on our deals, if we had had, we'd never have signed Sterling, de Bruyne, and others. As I see it, all Serie A’s top clubs consider themselves part of of the old guard “European elite” and therefore, far to grand to ever complete genuine deals with “scuff bag newbies” like us.

I’m not suggesting that we don’t do any deals with any European club at all in the near future. How is it a waste of time, if that is the player we want, you deal with whoever needs dealing with, thankfully we don't have a shithouse working on our deals, if we had had, we'd never have signed Sterling, de Bruyne, and others.
Is he? maybe he isn't trying to get the very best deal he can for Napoli, it is his job after all.Our negotiator may not, indeed, be a shithouse, but how do you suggest we proceed if the person we’re dealing with on behalf of the Italian club, most definitely is?
Precisely, both are doing their best for their respective clubs, just as you would expect them to.Is he? maybe he isn't trying to get the very best deal he can for Napoli, it is his job after all.
Might have something to do with us not just flopping the cash on the table. If we said will give you €80 million upfront, Napoli chairman would snap our hands off. Could be a delaying action or part of our negotiations. Why is it when we go for someone it’s we waiting for them to get a replacement which seems to not happen to any other club or if we can’t get a replacement we ain’t selling oh so they rather miss out on 50m than sell because they can’t find a replacement?! It ain’t out problem either he is for sale or he isn’t. All this bullshit is fcuking annoying!! Funny Fred been sold and no oh we can’t sell him till we get a replacement they just fcuking sell him!!!!
True, but the same question still applies, if neither party is prepared to shift its stance, what do you do?Is he? maybe he isn't trying to get the very best deal he can for Napoli, it is his job after all.
