It is defence spending as a proportion GDP, but that has nothing to do with NATO declared assets. NATO declared assets are exactly that. They are assets which countries declare to NATO to be used as NATO assets, and are funded from their own defence budget.

Also, defence spending v GDP is misleading, as some countries get better value for money than others when it comes to defence. Some countries are also able to achieve more with less, so it really isn't quite as simple as spend more on NATO.

Yes I am fully aware. Nimrod seemed to think that each country paid or was meant to pay 2% to a NATO pot. He doesn't understand it's total defence spend as a % of GDP.
 
Here's the real table of NATO funding from the NATO website. In reality, ourselves, the French and Germans pay a disproportionately large amount compared to the Americans. The US GDP is 7 times larger than ours yet their contribution to the running of NATO is only 2.2 times ours. Trump has a legitimate point about underfunding of defence in general but it would only affect them if Article 5 was invoked and all countries had to contribute to to an operation to repel an attack on one of NATO's members. So far Article 5 has only ever been invoked once and that was to support the US after the 9/11 attacks. For other NATO ops, the contributions are agreed on a case by case basis and are not related to overall defence funding or GDP.

Its funny how that clip starts with Gretchen Carlson, she got $20 million after suing Fox news. And bringing down that fat fuck Roger Ailes for doing exactly what Trump said he does on that hollywood tape.

The strange thing with Trump, is that I really don't think he sees that any of the stuff he is doing (sexual harassment, infidelity, insider trading, bribery, corruption, tax dodging and other endless things that would land you or I in hot water) is wrong or corrupt in any way. To him, it is just an extension of big business rules, where you push boundaries and don't admit anything even if you are bang to rights, then get your chequebook out and pay to make the whole thing disappear.

As you are well aware . . . it's not that he's a brothel owner, it's that he -- like Trump -- is a reality TV star.

I honestly have no idea what the GOP is going to, nor can, do to reclaim the center. The worst mistake Democrats could make would be to veer progressive right now.
