Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Why is it surprising? Sterling was an established player when he signed, Sané and Jesus were promising players making their first steps into senior football.
Fair points, just wouldn't have expected him to already be on double what Sané is on.

Add to the fact that Sterling had won European Golden Boy too when he signed. And came from Liverpool, and was older. Was always gonna be on loads more than Sane/Jesus.

Here's a radical idea. Give him what he wants but also write into his contract that he loses a months wages for any easy chances missed like against Burnley and the Vermin.

Stirling’s contribution last season in terms of goals and assists was pretty much equivalent to Kev’s. He/his agent could create a fair rationale as to why there should be parity.
Kev as been very consistent, Sterling as had a great season but It was his best season to date, if Mahrez joins and performs to the ability we all know he can city will be in a much stronger position when negotiating Sterling’s contract

Not only that, liverpool were willing to make him one of their highest earnest even above the likes of coutinho at the time and he was only 20 that's how highly they rated him. Imo he should also be amongst the highest earnest maybe not on de-bruyne, silva or even aguero level as they've done it on a more consistent basis but he should definitely be closer amongst that group in pay. People are forgetting he had a very good first season under pep even though he tailed off a bit towards the end he finished it with 10 goals and 21 assists(incl. pens won) and was even voted second on the POTS awards on this forum. He carried that natural progression onto last season where he had his best ever season with 23 goals and 17 assists and was voted 3rd best only to silva and de-bruyne in a record setting campaign and a case can even be made for him being 2nd on that list.

So this is a player whom for the past 2 seasons has been at least a top 3 performer for the team and is still just 23. We are not talking about a bit part player here but an established key player who still has years of development ahead of him. From some of his numbers last season(graph below) you can see he is on the cusp of something special once he gains composure in that final part of his game and could be looking at salah level numbers that's how scary his prospect is and both him and his team knows that as well as pep as he's said so himself. Obviously no one is above the club and if his demands are ridiculous then better to move him on. Arguments on whether he deserves to be paid de-bruyne, silva money is another case but he certainly deserves to be talked amongst the most important to the team going forward based on what he's done the past 2 seasons and I don't begrudge him or his team for thinking so.

Was just wondering where he was voted being 3rd best after Silva & KDB, was it a club or fan thing ?

No drama, get's a big pay hike and rightly so, doubt we will let it drag on any further than Christmas

If only he converts 75-80% of the chances he has, he would be unbelievable. Inconsistency in his finishing is the only shortcoming. His work rate is brilliant.
The coming season will hopefully see him take that step up as a ruthless finisher.

75-80%? Don’t the very best strikers in world football have about a 20% conversion rate?

Get the lad signed up for longer. I must have seen a different Sterling to the press and some football fans, not blues but a few may fall into the same category. I think he has been fantastic. When he has not got the rub of the green i see him chin up running hard until the final whistle and not mindlessly either; there is obvious progression still and he is already at a high level.

He suits our club mentality perfectly and imo i don't think Pep has any intention of letting him leave. Watching him and Sane grow together in the same team with Pep as manager is something of a football manager fantasy when i step back and think about it.

Correct. These are the stats in the premier league until end of March. Our boy Raheem aint too shabby and City as a team has a converstion rate of 20.9%.

These don't take into account the degree of difficulty to the chance created, a volley (like the one Leroy scored at Everton) that's missed from 10 yards carried the same weight as the type of chance Raheem missed at Burnley from 2 yards

Always best to look for a negative angle, top work.
