Riyad Mahrez

So a man with two goals and eight assists in a poorer league is the same price as someone who gets more than that playing in a defensive premier league team. You pay a premium because it's not even a risk. He's proven and in his prime.

If this was the other way around and Mahrez played for Monaco and Lemar played for Leicester, I'm convinced nobody on here would give a hoot about paying £70m+ for him, whilst Lemar at Leicester you'd all say wasn't worth more than £25m.

Oooh, you have an inferiority complex! A deserved one, too!

They agreed to sell him for a “fair price”. A figure which they themselves are plucking out of thin air. First they wanted 35 million from Roma and then 6 months later want 75 million from us. Jokers.
Not factual I’m afraid.

Roma never came close to our valuation and were metaphorically laughed at.

The price at that point was £50m

Did that comment about Mahrez being unveiled alongside Jorginho next week get deleted? Swear I read it on here and can't see it anymore (nor the other threads).

Was it just a bloke on the wind up?
The poster deleted it himself, he had already served a short ban for pretending to be ITK, so make your own mind up.

Anyone know who this Le Buteur is? Good source?....seen them as a source for a few updates now...65mil would seem a fair price for both clubs...

Manchester City are very close to signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester in a deal that should be worth around €75m (£65.7m). [Le Buteur]
This was posted on their web-site earlier. Possibly more likely to have info on the transfer than the English press.

The very likely transfer from Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City continues to fuel the British media. Not a day goes by without talking about the evolution of the negotiations between the Citizens and their Foxes counterparts. Until now, much has been said about this transaction, but we are still waiting for formalization. Yesterday, some English tabloids indicated that discussions could end between the two parties because of the financial demands of Leicester officials. A source close to the file told us that nothing of the sort is yet to be considered, since the discussions have reached a very advanced stage and the signature of the player for the benefit of the Blue and White of Manchester should even be done before the end of the current week.
The transfer would be around 75 M €
While some British media said yesterday that the leaders of Leicester City would demand more money since finally Patrick Roberts was no longer in the deal because the Foxes will record in the coming hours the arrival in their home. the young player from Norwich City, Maddison, for £ 20 million, our source told us that this was not going to be a real problem, as both sides managed to reach an agreement. At first, the Citizens proposed 60 million euros more Patrick Roberts to have Mahrez. A proposal deemed insufficient by Leicester who asked for 75 million euros plus said player. Nevertheless, since then, things have changed and as long as the Foxes have concluded the arrival of Maddison attacking midfielder, they no longer need Roberts. They should be satisfied with 75M €, which seems to satisfy also the leaders of Man City.
Riyadh was reassured by its leaders
In one of our previous editions, we revealed that Riyad Mahrez was beginning to be annoyed by the attitude of his leaders who continue to complicate his departure from the club and thus block his transfer to Manchester City. Nevertheless, it seems that one of the leaders of the Foxes had a discussion recently with the player and was reassured in terms of his departure to the club champion England. He told her that the negotiations were progressing well and that a final agreement had to be reached in the next few hours.
The Foxes want to finish them too
The fact that this transfer is slow to materialize does not please the leaders of Leicester City. They also want to finish in order to devote themselves to other hot issues that affect their club, whether in terms of recruitment or departures. So, if all goes well, we should have the formalization of the departure of Riyadh this week on the side of Manchester City.

I can't believe its still not a done deal
Perhaps City have other options they prefer to fully explore before maybe completing the deal.

Neither side has yet walked away so perhaps once alternatives fully explored we will reach a compromise ?

Personally I think that our owner has approved a certain amount of money within the business plan to continue our investment phase so his CFG officers are limited by the BP content.

If he's not a Guardiola type of player then why does Guardiola want him? And why would one of the most demanding managers on the planet sign a player with a bad work ethic?

Are these actually your own opinions or just repetition of what you've read online? Neither point makes any sense to me.

if there's one thing the last two seasons have proven (although they didn't need proving) it is that Guardiola can change the work ethic of every single player he comes across. If they don't change, they're out. Simple as.

If it was the other way round & City were the selling club like we were 'back in the day' & we had a player who desperately wanted to leave, we would be urging the club to get it done asap & get some players in, with the money, rather than holding out for money nobody would pay.

We would not want to start the season with a deeply unhappy 'star' player in the squad, we would want him out & a new one (or several) in.

I would expect that to be Leicester's real position on this: that they'll be glad when it's done.

If not, they are a bit fucking stupid imo.

Haha why on earth not? Former PFA POTY, the most prestigious award in the country which none of our current players have ever won, more goals and assists combined than any other Premier League player over the last three seasons despite playing for a team that averages around eight place. He's better than any of our current forwards bar Aguero IMO.

Many won’t like to hear that but it’s absolutely true. Mahrez is top class.

Really come round to the idea of mahrez now and hope it can happen ASAP! Is it true he still hasn’t gone on holiday so he can hopefully sign and then go?

Leicester's owners are rich & don't need the money & the club are strong financially. Mahrez has enough time left on his contract which puts Leicester in the driving seat.

It's a sellers market & Leicester aren't anything like the City of 15-20 years ago. We had a similar situation with SWP, whereby he wanted to go to Chelsea, so we put a high figure out there & Chelsea paid it with little haggling.

Selling SWP helped keep the club afloat, so it was a reluctant win, win situation for City. Leicester are in a totally different situation to us. They've put their price out there, but unlike Chelsea with SWP, City are haggling. That's why Magrez is still a Leicester City player.

If I was a Leicester City fan, I'd be applauding my board for acting in the very best interests of my club.

I'm glad you've FINALLY caught up!! Lol :-) Spread the Mahrez gospel to the last few remaining doubters will ya...
I am more excited if this happens than any other signing in a long while, I really think he could have the sort of season which Salah has just had. Fingers crossed it happens!

The fact that the Leicester owners are rich is irrelevant as most football club owners in the premier league are rich. They still have to stay within the FFP rules with regards player salaries and football/club generated income v expenditure. If not we could go any buy anyone regardless of the cost in theory. I don't suspect their revenue has grown that much to be able to add players and be prepared to leave one of their big earners on the side, if he isn't motivated to play for them any longer.

I would be very surprised if he doesn't move on this summer and the longer it goes the less likely it is for Leicester to get a huge fee for him, especially as clubs know his value will drop significantly if he is still there when the season starts

It is only a sellers market if the demand and desperation to get the player is there. At present I would say the demand is but not the desperation. Add to that the situation of the players dissatisfaction in January and his apparent desire to join us, the bargaining power is pretty even

Who has the most to lose, City who have a fantastic squad and he would add and help but not vital or Leicester who need to strengthen and have their most valuable saleable asset whose value is decreasing as the clock ticks
