Phil Foden to Leeds on Loan?

Phil Foden made ten appearances last season at 17 years of age, including two starts in the champions league and one start (v Leicester away) in the Carabao Cup. Why should he not play for us this season? I expect him to play double that.

A proper loan would do him good, don't see him getting the big minutes next season. He didn't do so well getting time this season and we walked the league, could have used him loads more but at this level you minimise risk. Loan would do him some serious good.

Harry Kane needed loans, Beckham went on loan. Shit even big Joe needed a loan. Loads of the best English players start out getting game time at smaller clubs, even if they aren't loans. Bale, Lampard etc. Game time makes players develop. Being trained by a great manager just doesn't do it for me, especially when any game time he does get will most likely still be in dead rubbers or competitions of much lower importance. Needs to learn what playing when it really matters is like.

@shak please listen to what Pep said.
Foden isn't going anywhere! He is a member of the 1st team squad and will play more for us next season.

I don't believe he will play more than a bit part at best. Loan best option, thats my opinion, I have listened to what Pep said, I just think he's talking rubbish.

He also said he would play him more after winning the golden ball at the world cup, didn't happen did it?

So peps a liar as well eh, does he have a problem with African players as well as talking rubbish ?

Play him more....What more then him never having played for the first team before that World Cup?

After he got back from that tournament he played against Feynord & Shaktar in the CL & Leicester in the cup where he got injured & was out for about 2 months then Came on against Leicester at home & in the LC final as well as statring against Basel in the CL. he was also on the bench for the Wigan game where had we not gone down to 10 men he might have featured at some point.

After that he made another 4 sub appearances in the league & was part of the match day squad a few more times, often instead of Yaya.

Just out of interest, who would you have played him instead of during our Record Breaking title winning season?

He was 17 ffs, I'm sure he played more minutes for his team than any other u17 WC winners, patience and gradual progression will help his development

just catching up on the thread...

how big a c**t do you have to be to accuse a 17 year old (at the time), born and bred blue, exceptional young player of unprofessionalism in such a coarse and casual manner in public, with no proof? it's fucking awful. have a word with yourself mate
Is the answer ‘a huge one’?

Alright pipe down drama queens. He played 300 minutes all season, he could have played 300 minutes for Leeds by about week 2 of the season. I think that is how players develop, if you don't fair fucks, but you don't learn many jobs by watching someone else do it from the sidelines.

I'm not for one second suggesting I'd bin Merlin or Kev or whoever for Phil or that there is some other u17 WC winner getting more minutes or that Pep is a fraud, chill the fuck out. All I said was Pep said he would play him and yes he did a tiny weeny bit but not nearly as much as he could get elsewhere. No reason to think next season will be any different, not like the squad is smaller or the competitions are any less important, so when he says he will play him more I just don't believe him. Its just an opinion, don't get your knickers in a twist.

You'll be getting called a rag soon (so hurtful), or a c*nt (again, if only I could stop my tears). Some very thin-skinned people round here. They won't be getting their knickers in a twist by the way; they've yet to move on from nappies.

Please, these jibes are so cutting. Your use of acerbic wit is nonpareil. And would have been even more incisive had you got the punctuation correct. Sadly, like your ability to understand the nuances of even the simplest debate, you were, predictably, wrong. Again.

Fuck them man.

Same happened to me with a load on here after Foden and Diaz made their debuts and i gave my low down on what i saw. Wanted to keep it brief as to not concentrating on the constructive criticism i had given.
But thats all the sharks needed, a sniff of blood and the they circled.

What i said, and how the season would pan out for them both was bang on the money yet again for youth players, and i have already said they will gradually see more minutes with the first team as the new season progresses. If Pep wants to keep them around.

Should he keep them around? Definitely. People calling for loans have to remember its only going to be beneficial if we can loan to a club that plays a similar style and the level of football is good enough. Meaning loans out of the club for potentially great futures will be limited if theyre valued.
There is no harm whatsoever in these 2 gems seeing 600mins of first team football next season and thats where i see there futures lying, within the club where there progress and development can be kepta keen eye on, amd also be taken under the wing with senior players as KDB was doing with young Doyle last season.

No proof? Several blues saw the same thing as me. And all were surprised. Not a hatchet job. It was an observation of a young lad looking worse for wear

I said I didn't think Foden would make it. I don't think he has what it takes. Plenty think he has and will. I'd be delighted if he did. But you're right, the slightest hint of not joining the sheep and let the opprobrium begin. I thought Raz was a cock for getting that tattoo. I think Ronaldo's one of the best players I've ever seen. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG scream some (a lot) and it's obvious this place loses sight of the fact it's first and foremost a forum, where differing views should be welcomed. What you've said is extremely sensible. And could be how it pans out. But woe betide anyone daring to say that Foden/Raz/insert City name aren't the second coming of Maradona and the rattles go into hyperdrive. And mainly from so-called resident 'experts' waving their "I'm a bigger Blue than you" (very tiny) dicks around. I suppose the world needs the shallower type of feeder.

Mate i called Lewandowski at 16 years old at Lech Poznan. On here for anyone who wants to google it, yet i know fuck all about future potential and development cos i dont have any badges.

There is a player on Foden for me, but Diaz is the one. So many are getting hung up on Phil because he is a local lad and a City fan. I really hope he does make it cos it doesnt just mean the happy clappers can say they were right but it'll be economically beneficial for the club.

Brahim is the one though, and i live that so many City fans have on their tinted glasses, cos it means Diaz can just get on with things out of the limelight.

I'd expect Diaz to get more minutes than Foden next season. A more technical player who will slot into the team with more ease.

*Awaits the pissed off Phil Foden Fan Club

It’s brilliant that someone else calls you a cùnt and it’s my reply to him that upsets you.

You carry on slagging Foden and not giving this list of 17 year old elite players you knew would make it (which you can’t as you didn’t think when you posted and you can’t name any).

The irony here is bloody delicious.

No one would have a go at your opinion if your reasoning wasn’t so shite. You’ve said he won’t make it with City and will only be mediocre because “elite players” show how good they are at 17/18. Seeing as you’ve only seen him play at 17 and then couldn’t name all of these elite players you mentioned then your rationales was bound to be questioned.

Oh, and you saw him pissed up on a train. The absolute horror of it. So now you want to write him off using your insider knowledge.

He’s 29. It would have been 2004 when he was 16. How would you have posted about it on here when you joined 4 years later?

Also, and more importantly he played for Lech Poznan from the ages of 20-22 so you couldn’t have even seen him there at 16.

So you called a 20 year old with 50 goals behind him at best.
