On Fox’s coverage post game Alexi lalas is praising sterling while two England pundits are complaining about him

Second half started and the two United fans I was with one said "Sterling still on'"and wondered why he hadn't been subbed.

Every discussion on England now includes the inevitable why is Sterling still playing and that Rashford should be given a chance
 
He was fantastic today-the only threat first half. Just such intelligent movement and inter play. Love him.

listened to 606 for a few minutes three callers on the bounce have criticised Sterling , had enough and switched it off , BBC playing ratings Sterling get a 5 and the rest of the team high 6's and 7's , you really have got to congratulate the Dippers they have a done a proper hatchet job on him and the media and non Dipper supporters are only too willing to stick the boot in. Through my blue tinted specs , he was the only player taking the game to Sweden , and Kane, Lingard and Alli despite his goal didnt have the same influence as Sterling , he had a good game , not a great game , but he did OK.
 
The great thing about this Cup run, is how much he will have learnt about playing a different role. If he needs to play there next season it will be so easy with kdb, silva etc supplying.

I see people are talking about his game, without any reference to media or anything. Stick to the player thread apparently.....

Overall game play was great from him today. Final third decision making and finishing was as bad as ever for England though. Offers more than you see on the face of it and still of the opinion he starts without question. Should be no negativity with any player or performance maybe minus Alii. Let’s all stick together

And yet for about the 4th or 5th time of this tournament he’s been fed through by these average players behind and fluffed it. Let’s blame everyone else for woeful finishing....
 
Its funny it just seems to be the English public who have a problem with Sterling. It will be interesting to see the narrative of the written media and ITV but BBC and radio pundits have been very supportive of his performance its as though the likes of Shearer Savage and Keown understand what his role in the team is and how vital he is to the teams success

I don’t I’m blaming the player who’s ball falls at their feet when they miss. People claim it’s the other players around him why he isn’t great. They don’t shoot for him. I done my post stating I thought he had a great game. Anyone defending missed chances again need their head testing
