Jorginho

If what Brennan has said is true then it smells of Napoli and Chelsea trying to effectively get us to pay more for Jorginho so that they can offset that against their compensation they are trying to sort for Sarri.

We conceded fewer goals from set pieces than any other team in the premier league last season, so if teams want to target that area, that's perfect for us.

Also I think someone like Jorginho despite his own lack of pace does protect us on the break because if you have someone like him creating from deep, helping unlock defences, you don't need to over-commit the wingbacks, and we can keep them ready to snuff out counter-attacks.

Pep's Bayern Munich almost eliminated conceding on the counter attack in their third season, and it mostly came from cutting out loss of posession against teams like Klopp's pressing them.

As I said, I don’t claim to know that much in detail about tactics and don’t watch a lot of football outside of the Premiership. What you say about Pep’s final season at Bayern is reassuring and I take your point about defending set-pieces.

Nothing coming out of the Jorginho camp , his agent has been very vocal all the way thru this saga

Surely it wouldn't take over two weeks since agreeing a deal for a player and signing said player? Especially if personal terms were agreed ages ago.

Unless there was a cock up somewhere if that timeline is true.

It looks much much worse if we still actually think he’s signing and he’s got on a plane and gone to Chelsea

Genuinely look like mugs

Fair enough if we’ve moved on but we’re seemingly waiting on him and he’s turned up at Chelseas ground

Javi Garcia reincarnated.

Delighted he appears to be off to Chelsea, would have been the biggest flop since Mangala.

Not sure this would save any face to be honest. If anything it would serve to make it look worse if indeed we have been "snubbed". Presumably City must've had some encouragement from his agent to brief Blackburn and Brennan?
Agreed also what would it serve to have a player who is apparently not fully committed to City which we are told is vital no matter how much we are theoretically in the right.
Perhaps the mafia want their cut out of it after all it is Naples and Abramovich has shall we say connections.

Yeah fair enough mate, I apologise. You're right it's not over yet, but it sounds very much like it might be. I do think we are desperate or very soon will be though.
i understand that such saga's cause frustration for some, but taking a step back and visualising the bigger picture is whats needed. Some of the overreactions and nonsense i read helps no one.

Cheers for the reply,appreciated.

From what I've heard his mother has 2 instagram profiles. One private account and one public account. Jorginho follows them both. On her public account she has started following Chelsea. On the private one (I don't follow it, so I pass on the information I've heard, not 100% sure it's correct) she also follows Chelsea, but she also follows AC Milan. Her sister also has a private account, but she also follows Chelsea. As far as I can see, no one follows City

Thanks mate

There is nothing other than rumor and the comments of the Napoli exec who cliams Chelsea are having both Sarri and the player. Celsea have said nothing and haven't even sacked Conte yet.

This could all be about Napoli putting pressure on Chelsea. This may have some leggs yet. For the record I agree with Preacher - he is not the perfect fit.

This all seems a bit nuts. If Chelsea appoint Sarri before sacking Conte - Conte will have a claim for breach of contract - I.e. his duties have been given to someone else - so he’d recover every penny he is due under his fixed term contract plays compensation. So if Chelsea want him out they need to negotiate a deal. Until that’s done they’d be nuts to appoint anyone else. All the indications are that Conte is going to tough it out and get what he’s due. If this is a ruse dreamt up by Napoli and Chelsea to get more money out of us - I expect us to stand firm and tell them to do one. I can’t see Sarri being appointed at Chelsea just yet. Conte needs to be dismissed and paid off before they can appoint a replacement.

The posters saying it’s Sanchez again. Were you the ones upset when media would say we are buying success because we didn’t care what we threw at players financially?
We don’t do that anymore, yet now you moan because we don’t close deals. Sanchez was a mercenary and went for the money.

Mahrez suggests otherwise.

It’s more to do with other clubs offering more than we are willing to rather than a failure to close deals.

My point is this guy hasn't been at the world cup and we've been chasing for weeks. One of the keys to last season was the early deals we got, why have we taken so long here and been seemingly "gazumped"?

We will sign somebody else who will perform the role just as well or adapt. We could also cope if there isn’t a new central defensive midfielder as we did in the League Cup Final when Fernandinho went off.

I was at both the games against Napoli (admittedly I’d had several beers before the Away game) but I don’t remember Jorginho as a standout player. I guess he impressed in the Italian League.
