Thanks OB1, I just get fed up with some 'fans' wanting to give a negative slant on everything, we may pay largish fees, but we by no means "over pay" these days. In the early days we had to over pay, or nobody would have come, but even then if we look at what we paid for Sergio, David Silva, even Vinny, there's not a single true fan who could say we didn't get value for money out of them.
Our negotiating these days is good, it may take time to complete deal, but when spending around £50m I think that is realistic to expect. People often forget things like international duty, and even a players holiday at this time of year, and these complicate a deal considerably.
The most important thing is we get what we need for the right price, before the start of the next season.
I'm with you all the way on this.
Plenty of our early "expensive" transfers proved to be worth the money, one way or another. It was inevitable that City would have to pay over the odds and make a fair few mistakes on its journey to transform itself from the position it was in when Mansour took over. That journey continues but the progress has been huge.
Deals involving tens of millions of pounds can take time to complete; especially when genuine time pressure is some way from being a factor.
I hope City can get this deal done but other options exist.
