It’s funny because I have pals who think Manchester is fantastic , they see buildings going up , new bars & restaurants & everything looks rosy to them, I suppose it’s what each persons personality is dictates what they see. I won’t see the bar or restaurant , i’ll See the litter, filth & spice heads i’ve Got to walk past to get there. It's all i see nowadays. Don't get me wrong i love a nice skyscraper like the Owen Street Towers going up and a nice drink in Cottonopolis, but all my attention is ever drawn to these days is the filth everywhere. As i said in the OP, it's actually starting to get me down and further still the fact that so many people don't seem to give a shit about it and either add to it or don't keep their locality clean and tidy themselves.

If the pavement outside my front door was a mess, i wouldn't expect anyone but me to do something about it. It's not the Council's fault that some untidy painter and decorator has spilt a tin of paint on the floor or that a teenager spits his chewing gum on the same patch of floor on his way home from school every day making the pavement look like it's got the plague. As if the Council can keep every scratch of the city clean... I would take it upon myself to do something about it because i have pride in where i live.

(by the way, graffitti remover, hot water and a garden digging hoe will get chewing gum up)

Saw a lad the other trying to force his takeaway carton etc through the gap in a post box, not being the shy retiring type I told him what I thought of him , he was shocked that someone would challenge him, i’ve Done it a few times but you don’t have to be a genius to see that this could end up very badly one day. No one gives a shit anymore, Manchester is one of the filthiest City’s I’ve ever seen , I was in Palermo a few months ago , a City with a bad reputation & I felt safer wandering round there than my home City. My only regret is that I didn’t head for Australia as my relatives did years ago, they left a poor grim City but when they do come back they can’t beleive what a shithole it has become , especially the centre.
 
It's great in North Manchester..............Biffa do a good job picking up all the litter launched from scruffy twats cars along Victoria Ave .

Walking around here any time of day or night I havent been robbed, mugged, anything.....Now if I was in Wythenshawe or most of South Manchester I'd feel very unsafe.

I still think the lads in Strangeways hotel should be picking up litter etc for free.

I used to hear gun shots most nights in the early 90's.......Height of Gooch and Doddington.

Helicopters regularly overhead all hours.

Now I live opposite a Golf Course surrounded by trees. Victoria Avenue M9

Yeah, was bad in that period but it got an undeserved reputation way before that, think most ares have got their gangs now .

Manchester has always been a tough cookie..........hence why MCFC got a bad reputation in the 70's and 80's.

Now it's all over the UK.

True, it’s funny I don’t mind tough areas, earthy working class areas if you like but I have a big problem with people who can’t hold their ale, trouble causers , people who don’t care & dump litter & filth make my blood boil .
