Maybe not but much much better than the crap they have so it’s a big win for Liverpool this one.
This. Ederson's better in our team due to the style of play. Same with De Gea at the rags. Swap them round and it looks totally different.
Liverpool have signed a keeper that is ranked top 5 in Europe IMO. The number of times they screw up against lower opposition is ridiculous. He might save them 10-15 points a season.

We paid 13m for Bravo, his inability to save a football cost us points. We then went and spent 35m on Eddy. This is no different. I suspect the fee is driven by contract too.

Quick squad comparison (assuming they sign Alisson) who, if any, would you take out of their squad over ours?

Ederson/Alisson
Bravo/Karius
Walker/Alexander-Arnold
Danilo/Clyne
Laporte/Van Dijk
Kompany/Lovren
Otamendi/Klavan
Stones/Gomez
Mendy/Moreno
Fernandinho/Fabinho
Gundogan/Wijnaldum
De Bruyne/Lallana
D Silva/Keita
B Silva/Shaqiri
Sterling/Oxlade-Chamberlain
Sané/Mané
Mahrez/Salah
Jesus/Firmino
Aguero/Sturridge

Nope. I do think Shaqiri was a smart move for both parties and a good price too(I wonder what the asking price would have been for City had we been in for a squad player), surprised nobody else was in for him though. Most of their other buys have either been the going rate(Fabinho) or record breaking fees(VVD, Alisson)... so they are catching up but can't really act high and mighty about how they are doing it, there has been one real bargain in Salah but it was still £34m.

I suppose the Coutinho money has allowed for some of this and later down the line after the 3 years is up(FFP) if things haven't gone as they'd hoped under Klopp(fingers crossed #boom) they can get a nice fee for Salah.

None of those comparisons, but VVD for Otamendi would be tempting.

The "net spend" nonsense their fans are spouting is laughable.

Just because players like Torres, Suarez, Coutinho etc all wanted to leave their club doesn't make them penny savers.

How much could we have sold Aguero for over the years? Silva, Kompany? Even now with pretty much any member of our squad they'd all go for insane amounts of money.

Difference being we're a club capable of keeping hold of our best players because they actually want to play for us. Whereas the second someone flashes a bit of cash in front of their stars they jump ship... Indicative.

Plus, we only spend what we make and bring in despite their reluctance to admit it.

Close to, if not, £400m from Klopp if this goes through. Alisson and Van Dijk are "the Coutinho money". Keita and Fabinho are "the Coutinho money" Fekir would be "the Coutinho money" too.... Just how much do they want to fool themselves into thinking the cünt fucked off for?

In a one off game they’re going to be a nightmare for any team, Klopp is buying very very good.

Yep all smoke and mirrors to say they haven't really broke transfer records trying to catch up to City while still slating them for buying titles. It's like they think money from outgoing transfers shouldn't count as spending anything.

Back-up to Szczesny to 66mil goalkeeper in 1 season, absolute madness. I watch Roma quite a bit and I'd say he was slightly better than Szczesny was in 16/17 and he went to Juve for 12mil. Either they a massively overpaying or the market has gone down the shitter. Probably a mix of both.

I don't think Alisson is better than Ederson at all. But he's a massive upgrade on Mignolet and Karius which will surely save them 7+ points a season.

Their biggest issue is still consistency and mentality. Klopp isn't a serial winner like Pep and none of those players have won a title before. They're likely to crack like they did in 2014. Their squad is very impressive, similar to ours in the sense that they've got a young team.

Klopp simply has to with the league this season now doesn't he? Anything else given the amounts they have spent is surely a huge failure. £75 million on a defender in January, £70 million on a midfielder and now £70 million on a keeper alongside other £40 million signings in Fabinho and whatever they paid for Shaqiri. Should get all the scrutiny City and United have done in the past few years.

United?

I think they will be a real threat this season. Let's hope I am wrong but they have strengthened well.

Will he be called £70m Alisson / the most expensive keeper in the world every time he makes a save / mistake?
