Cogito ergo Sum.
Whatever man.
Your personal vendetta against Sterling is fucking embarrassing.
It's business at the end of the day, his agent couldn't really lose as Raheem wasn't really expected to light up the WC in a poor England side that over-achieved. Ok, may securing their future sounds a bit OTT. However in terms of his career, I think this contract might be his peak-earning potential (when you take away inflation) and the most important. We'll want to tie him down for at least 5 years, it's insurance for us too. If he hits the heights Pep want's he might be worth £100m+ before that contract ends. He's hardly eating hand to mouth now. He is financially secure for life already (or should be if he invests wisely). Most would agree that it is what he does in blue that counts but he made the deliberate choice to wait until after the WC to decide his future with us - why do you think that might have been?

Why would his value to the club be any different if he'd scored a few goals at the world cup?Why wouldn't he? He backed himself to shine at the World Cup which would've strengthened his negotiating hand, ok it didn't work out that way but why wouldn't he try it in the first place?
Forget about Sterling for a minute and any feelings/opinions we may have toward him, if you were entering into a negotiation would you not try make your negotiating position as strong as possible?

Of course it is all business as players only have a finite earning window (assuming they stay fit all their careers), so they have to make hay when they can. Sterling could have put his agent back in his box and negotiated a deal before the WC. I personally believe he thought he would take his City form into the WC and took a punt in strengthening his position. It has not done that as most would agree, so it is up to the club to offer their terms and up to him to either take it or look elsewhere.

I think it's in everyone's interest to get this sorted out before the season starts regardless of what the outcome is. Otherwise it'll be used as a stick to beat the club and player with.
That's resale value though.Huge exposure on a massive stage to a global audience is only every going to increase your worth, commercially and as a football player.

Of course it is and that is a good carrot for negotiating a better deal for yourselfThat's resale value though.

Making it more likely he'll be sold.It would raise his market value.
As good a player Sterling is, he's not going to be in that league no matter what he did in Russia. Not solely. PSG are going to be raking in millions from Mbappé becoming the anointed successor to Messi & Ronaldo. Companies will be queuing out the door to give him commercial deals, club sponsors will demand he's front and center on every ad, and shirt sales will go through the roof.
