Rafael is gonna go back to Sporting just so they can get a fee for him but he won’t be going back to the team. His lawyer said he’s received death threats to him and his family because he was one of the few to recognize some attackers and he was living at the academy. Lawyer also confirmed they’ve never had contact with Benfica, another report said that he would only be going abroad based on the threat of his life if he moved to a rival.

Interesting thanks mate, sounds like good news for us potentially but awful for him, especially at just 19.

Word on the street is he turned up with his father (agent) at dortmund and they didn't know why they were there and told them to piss off.

A bit like the Peter Odemwingie incident which was live on Sky on transfer deadline day a few years back when he drove to QPR - thinking a last minute deal would go through - when he arrived at circa 11:00pm - the security card told him to fuck off! He looked a right prick.

This is what i've read on twatter - Only explanation i can find anywhere, but a few people seem to have the same jist. They turned up to dortmund uninvited. Reported in Portugal as a bizarre situation and is returning to sporting?? So fuck knows.

Thanks for sharing. Wild situation. I’d like us to sign him just for the sheer unexpectedness of it.

This article was posted only yesterday as well to make it all the more confusing......Bizarre transfer.
There's a paragraph in there that possibly explains everything:

The negotiations are very advanced, as Sporting try to block Benfica from stealing their young talent. The Eagles offered the player a signing prize of €4m, but he’s not keen on creating any trouble by joining rivals.

His father appears to be acting as his agent and it sniffs more and more as pure greed.
