Transfer window Restrictions

It's going to cost RM or whoever a lot more to come in and buy a player after the PL window closes knowing that the PL club can't replace them. That said, it can still happen, just less likely to have the club cooperate.

Will help transfers between non-English teams because they can't use English teams to drive the price up

In what circumstances do you see it adversely affecting us. Do you see Madrid coming in for KDB or Kun for example as soon as our window shuts thinking they will get a good deal for them?
I think the biggest problem is last minute player availability.

Quite regularly things happen in a butterfly effect manner that means top players suddenly become available in the way Arsenal got Ozil. It's very possible that the likes of Pjanic may become available at the last second for a workable price should Juventus make another big midfield signing, but we won't be there to capitalise.

Wait,vi thouggtthe window was closed for both buyers and sellers, no?

English teams cannot buy but they can still sell, thus European teams could unsettle players. That said it won't affect the City but the clubs it will affect will have voted for the change, like turkey's voting for Christmas.

Great for European teams wanting to buy from other European teams as well. Wait until the window gets closed in England and then try and get some business done on the cheap. Can see Bayern/Real etc... picking up bargains.

You mention Ozil there. So do you think Madrid would have found a buyer at £60m if the English window was shut?

No he'd have gone for £25m. They only decided to sell him when he threw a hissy fit after their La Liga game.

English teams can sell they just can't buy.
No team will sell a player unless they have a replacement who is considered good enough.

I doubt that. They would just wait the 4 months for the January window for the sake of £30m but you might be right.
Well no because he was moaning like a whore and they wanted him out there and then.

How can you say that? It happens all the time without this transfer window nonsense and will continue to happen as usual.

In which case the change to the transfer window will have no impact

I don't really see how you could come to that conclusion. Teams lose players without having time to find replacements all the time is what I said, increasing the amount of time that European clubs have to poach players whilst English clubs have no possibility whatsoever of finding a replacement by about 4 weeks is going to have a massive impact.

I suppose i don't look at it like they have no choice. A club can agree to sell without having a replacement, or they can turn the offer down. If they're of a mind to sell, then you could argue the extra time gives them more of an opportunity to start a bidding war to push the price up. As you say, it happens already, so clearly clubs are prepared to sell when they have no time to buy a replacement
