Good Lord that is fucking hideous.
I can't beleive there is a professional designer someone who stole a wage designing this abomination. A 2 yr old and an etch-a-sketch could do a better job. A big final middle finger from Nike.

Doesn't work like that anymore. It's not a third kit, it's a cup away kit.

There won't be a team with which our home and away kit clash, so there's no need for the extra kit in that sense. We'll wear the navy blue away from home in the league where possible and the third kit away from home in the cups, again where possible.

I see what you're saying but we wore the 'cup' kit in the league quite often .

Indeed, and there in lies what we are all on about.

Though, I think there is an argument to be made that a more “colourful” third kit would likely have increased overall shirt sales, as kids seem to distinctly prefer the bright coloured away/third kits these days and adults may have been looking for something other than the [generally] poorly received home kit this season (and now they just have a choice between a lazy “homage” and a “you’re not renewing so **** off” shirt).

As I have said a couple times before in this thread, the colours should have been reversed on the third kit.

As it stands, it looks like the away kit will probably be the top seller this season... unless we win the quadruple, in which case I will be buying all of them. ;-)

I know it’s a pretty small sample pool but I can confirm my son loves the brighter kits. Especially the neon ones. He thinks this kit is shit though

I wish it was, mate. I coach kids and nearly all of them demand the bright or strange kits. We just went through a kit selection for next season, where we let the u12 players consult, and we ended up with “Astro Green and Midnight Black” striped shirts.

I’ve had a number of conversations with parents from home (Manchester and Zaragoza), as well as here in the states (Boston and NYC), and they all generally say the same thing: the kids love the away/third kits more than the home kits, much to their chagrin, because they could save money by only buying the home kit every two or three seasons. But, no, the kids want the new shirt every year.

One of our working theories is that there is quite a bit of pressure to be different and attention-getting in general, so the bolder, stranger, even uglier the design, the better.

It extends beyond just football shirts into the clothes and shoes they wear and the sort of interests they tend to have (more and more niche these days).

Wonder if he would have thought different if the colours were reversed (mainly neon orange with purple sash and accent bits)?
