Charity Shield - Post Match Thread

There was someone on the pitch that night, the stars were bright, Bernardo.
He scored a goal for you and me, for Man City, Bernardo.

 
I missed the whole match because I was flying to lanzarote but reading some of these comments makes me think I missed a treat.
 


Post match pressor.

A lot of insight, speaks on Bernardo’s position and performance, activity in transfer market and so on.
 
Peps third seasons normally produce the best football. The football we play now has become natural for our squad of players. Bernardo Silva was outstanding. Phil Foden looked like he’s been playing in our first team for years. Aguero looks sharp as. Laporte and Stonesy will be our centre backs for many seasons.

Enjoy this while we can blues, because we won’t have Pep forever.
 
thought the whole team played well but I think what a difference we look with Mendy in the team,so much better balance.bring it on for the new season.
 
I think that this could be an amazing year for Bernado Silva. We know he is talented but we are beginning to see just how good this guy can be....and only 23. It was also great to see Mendy again....like a new signing.
 
Brilliant performance from the lads today in a much stronger team than I thought Pep would put out.

The result was never in any doubt; it was just a matter of how big the winning margin would be.

Sergio, who was my MotM, carrying on where he left off. Bernardo and Phil very good, as was Big John, whose great interception started the move for the second goal.

It was fantastic to see so many of them already apparently up to speed and our rivals must be shitting themselves. I am looking forward to this season as much as I did the last one.
 
I honestly didn’t think we could be better than last season.
After watching that I think we actually can.
With Mendy back we really don’t have a weakness defensively.
The players looked really hungry.
The kids coming into the squad gives us sooo much depth.
This season will be stellar. Keep pinching yourselves lads and lasses just in case it’s all a dream!

I thought Mendy was ok but I’m not yet convinced about his one on one defending/marking. However- if Pep thinks he’s what we need, he’s what we need!

With any luck he won’t need to do any defensive work!
He is a monster going forward and will terrify right backs across the land. His interplay with Bernardo and Mahrez was beautiful to watch.
A massive upgrade on last season’s LBs with all due respect!
 
Looked good, but let's face it Chelsea were shit, and their players are playing a brand new system that they don't look comfortable with.

Can't wait for the Arsenal game though. KdB will be right up for it, and it'll be interesting to see who plays - Dave or Bernardo, Sterling or Mahrez or Sane, will Gundogan start etc, etc. We're ridiculously strong.
