I don't think it's that. Just that the likes of him, De Bruyne and Sterling have had shorter pre-seasons than most and haven't played any football yet since the World Cup. I think Guardiola will gradually ease them back in, rather than risk burn out later in the season. Most sensible City fans would have David Silva in their strongest XI still.

I totally understand where you’re coming from mate, and perhaps Sunday is too early for Dave.

But the fans I’m talkikg about have generally got KDB in their starting line ups who’s had around 10 days less training than Silva.

There’s been countless examples on other threads of our “best team” and again D. Silva doesn’t get in the majority of them.

I agree that the overwhelming majority of sensible match going fans would have him in their starting line ups, but I think the more casual TV / internet / Football Manager fans tend not to appreciate how good he is and how lucky we are to have him.

I seem to recall Sane having a slow start last season and then he just exploded and had a superb season. If Pep detects any lack of effort then he will not play.
Think it's noticeable that Sane and Mahrez both looked a little rusty and they were the 2 that had the whole summer off. A lot of the others were playing twice a week only 3-4 weeks ago so will be fairly match sharp.Think Sane and Mahrez will be fine once they have a couple of games under their belts.

Looking forward to bursting the Arsenal bubble of optimism on Sunday. They won't know what's hit them. 2-0 City...

Just seen bluwhit say he's 50/50 for Sunday anyway, so I doubt he'll be risked.

Only worry is that Sane looked a bit disinterested in the Charity Shield, when he was hooked at half time. Wonder if Guardiola might leave him out to make a point?
Sane took a knock early in the game, subbed because of that, precautionary so the commentator said

Ah, sorry - didn't realise that. Was at the game so wasn't aware of what the commentators said.

Never seen that. Seriously, what are they doing?
What is it good for?
Any videos out there?

He wasn't even on the bench for that lads selection

Sam Lee has Monreal as a doubt and Leno, Sokratis, Mustafi all starting in his match preview.

Staying at the RIU Cancun and their sports bar insist that they will be showing the game.

Crazy numer of Brits here - it cannot be true but feels like more than Americans.

Off topic, but I'm actually staying at this hotel next summer - any good?

PEP: (On transfer window closing) Ideal situation is (all leagues) finish at the same time but it is what it is. I like to start the first game with players who I’ll have for the season.

Pep on new Arsenal manager Unai Emery: "He's an excellent manager. What he achieved in Sevilla, winning three Europa Leagues in a row - he's excellent. It's good for the Premier League."

Pep on Jurgen Klopp dubbing City the title favourites: "I've had that situation for 9 years, it's not a problem. Thank you Jurgen - you're so kind!"

Pep on his squad: "They showed me in two seasons, especially the last one, that we can trust them. We believe that we have a good squad. Like I said last year. we cannot spend every season like we spent last season."

Pep: "Maybe next season, we'll go to the transfer window a little more active."

Pep confirms that Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are ready to face Arsenal. "Raheem and Kevin arrived in a perfect way."

PEP: @Mahrez22 has settled in well. He knows the league so thats good. Football players connect immediately with him, he was introduced and got on with them and after two or three days he was just another member.

Pep says NOBODY contacted him about taking the Argentina job and seems unhappy about the AFA president's claims. "The manager has to be Argentinian. I am not going to train Argentina."
