De Bruyne injury - Back in Training (p89)

Let's try be optimistic too. Imagine if Gundogan steps up with consistent playing time? Or what if Bernardo comes in and plays like he did against Chelsea every week? Or even what if Mahrez goes in there and starts playing like he did in pre-season? Maybe Fernandinho might be pushed forward and go back to his Shakhtar attacking form? Maybe we'll change our formation to accommodate for the problem and we'll discover an even greater means of playing?

Internally, this will be the response the club demands. Somebody is going to have to step up. Obviously pragmatically that may not happen; Gundogan blows hot and cold and the other two aren't exactly accustomed to the role.

But you can be damn sure Pep won't settle for less.

We're in as good a position as any team in the world, through sheer depth and managerial mentality, to handle an injury to our star player like this.

Not unless god forbid he is ruled out for the season. Reports so far are saying repeat of previous injury 10-12 weeks lets pray that is the case.

Maybe you're right, maybe if he's out for a while our CL campaign will be doomed to fail. One can never deny the quality and impact a player like KDB has. But we're 100% not going to have any success if we have this lack of faith. The key to our success has been our winning mentality, just listen to the recent interviews with Kompany, Walker and Pep on Sky.

Whilst we as fans have less of an impact on that, if collectively we're all on the same page it'll seep through. Whether for right or wrong, the club will still be confident of progress and success, so maybe we should be at least a bit upbeat about it too?

I wonder who Warnock will target now instead?

A lot of unproven talent and some not setting the place alight on that list. This is what happens in football all the time you have to make the best of things. Objectively if this is Mendy like we will have little chance of hitting the heights of last season but we still should be able to compete in the league. We can probably kiss the CL goodbye however as we need Kev to beat the best. Lets hope he is back for Spuds/Rags.
Silva
Bernardo
Mahrez
Dinho
Gundogan
Foden
6 players bang in form, 5 of them very experienced, to take 3 places for the majority of games.
Diaz
Dinho
Delph
Zinchenko
Danilo
Gomes
6 players to fill in and as when needed.

You go show that list to a supporter of any other club in the world and try to tell them we're down to the bare bones in midfield, they'll laugh.

If he plays dave but he has an injury right now as well,i'm sure we will be fine but lets not say our best player being out for months is not a big deal

It isn’t a big deal tbh. That’s just where we are at as a squad. If he’s done his cruciate then yes, time to flap. But not right now, let him have his scan first ffs

Everything seems to be falling into place for the dippers at the moment but it won’t last. Remember we have the best manager of all time and a fantastic squad. Obviously this is a major blow but come the end of the season I still think we will be the ones with the trophies, the dippers will be left with phlegm rash
KDB wasn't playing when we beat them in the Capital One Cup final. He is an exceptional player but as others have said we are not a one man team

How does Ilkay not make this list at all?

Nightmare news this. I'm not sure why David wasn't available on Sunday but clearly we need him back ASAP because missing one is doable but missing both is very bad indeed. The two Silva's would be fine there for a few months with Foden as back up and I think Mahrez could probably do a decent job there but I wouldn't like to see Gundogan having to play there too often, I just don't think he's good enough.

Why is everything falling for the dippers
Good pre season without their star players playing much World Cup, got their main transfer targets, positive result first game, their main rival loses its star player for a considerable amount of time, addressed their goalie issue.....As I said I think we’ll smash them come the end of the season, no problem

Agreed which is why I said we have a fantastic squad and we will be the ones with the trophies come the end of the season!

Pure speculation. Could play Sunday, could be out for season. Nothing based on any medical evidence yet

It’s a blow for him and City, yes we have some very able players that can step in and take their chance but with these types of injuries, reoccurrences are common place if players come back too soon, let’s just hope he’s out for a shorter period of time and has a good rest to recharge his batteries....

This is where depth really pays off.

This is where team camaraderie despite the talent and egos (meant in the best sense -- what incredibly talented player doesn't have a positive sense of confidence and want to play all the time?) and the manager's ability to motivate the club really combine to show how important they are.

City are NOT a one-man team -- in fact I think City are the exact opposite. This is bad news but I am absolutely 100% confident we can work through this and thrive without him for a long time.

Get well and come back soon, Kevin.

So various twitter sources have gone from injured in training to 2 months out, to 3 months out and several papers are making up stories of anything up to 3 months out and quoting different types of knee injury.

No one knows yet, City will confirm in due course, lets wait and see.
