The last thing I want to see is more pragmatism. I want what Pep delivers, fantasy attacking, successful football which every other side is envious of and with a team without ego but play in a humble manner as a team not a collection of individuals.

Its the easiest thing to point to matches against one team and suggest a pattern but for the point to have any balance or substance it would have to reflect results against all the other sides. It doesn’t as we smashed them playing the brand of football you would like altering.

Judging by the reactions on here the answer to the Op’s Question is No. Any threads debating a plan b or a more pragmatic approach may as well be closed as discussion in this area is a waste of time

What is the point ? Pep is not going to have a plan B.
That's not true Pep has plans B,C,D&E we frequently alter shape and tactics including at times sitting back a bit more and bringing teams onto us.
There are some aspects to the game that he considers sacrosanct though and I don't think plan X,Yor Z is ever going to involve sacrificing much possession if he can help it.

You know what I mean. He isn't going to start playing pragmatic football, as the OP is wanting.

Our style of football looks great, and broke all the records last year but against a really good team, playing at their best, we were beaten three times.
-Have we changed enough or improved enough to avoid that happening again?
-Or does the high press, leaving spaces behind us because we’re so adamant that we want to win the ball back high up the field, mean quick dynamic atttacks are always going to threaten us?

We defend as a team, and against most it is hugely successful, but we do it as high up the pitch as possible. Liverpool however, who still defend as a team, seem to want to get everyone back behind the ball and defend with a solid unit even if that’s in their own last third. That seems to then allow the other team to come forward more, and give Liverpool more spaces to attack when they do win it back.

I’d just like to see more pragmatism from us, more acknowledgement that against teams with pace and quality up front, it’s more secure to defend deeper for spells, and to have a solid wall built in front of our goal, than rely on us winning the ball back high up the pitch when we have big spaces behind ours.
Just under 400 posts in 8 years (about 1 per week on average). Hmm. Quick question for you; why haven't you contributed more on here, given that we are enjoying the most successful era in our history? You must see that that would raise suspicions, especially that you are posting to (your own words) criticise Pep.

Sorry mate I wasn't meaning to criticise your post but there are plenty of people who do take these things literally and think City only have a Plan A including TV pundits , I try and point it out when I see it.

I agree with the OP

Nine men behind the ball and .............................

You know what? You're right, we should totally change how we play against everybody. Who needs this free flowing attacking football when we can just park the bus.

Get to fuck.
