Religion

ever heard of the word facetious, its in the oxford english also
The shortest word in the English language with the vowels in order! Facetiously, if you want to include the “sometimes y.”

Not many people know that....said in my best Michael Caine voice!

At a guess you want it to end? Great, enjoy - though you might want to not post anymore as surely that would keep the thread going
on and on and on...and so defeat your own purpose? On the other hand,If you don't want this thread to end then might that require some people posting?
Totally expected reply.

Wonderful - you win. And here's something for you to get your chops around, though maybe you'll want
to vomit it out in the form of words on this thread? But that'll just keep the thread going?

But there are folk elsewhere that have spoken of depression. Have you known this yourself or do your opinions
on this come from what someone else has told you? Anyhow perhaps someone has depression and have the courage to admit
this and then go to a doctor, even if this depression is telling them that to admit to this is a 'weakness' that means that they are
unworthy of any help whatsoever? Maybe then, one way a doctor might choose is to prescribe anti-depressants so as
to support this person in opening up a little more joy. The doctor might also send them to see a 'talking therapist' - with
whom they might come to let go of the misery within, little by little. And so cycles might then begin - opening to joy a little
more, letting go of the misery within a little more. Through this might they come to find a way through the depression - to be free
of this curse - even coming to know greater self - acceptance...a blessing indeed, for sure.

What is he babbling about?
Think you might find that it is the babbling in your own mind that you are listening to, that get's
in the way of being able to truly listen to anyone else. 'Life' translated through the mind of Banned Tosspot?
Not sure that even you would recommend this, if you are honest?

arfurclue..half a clue...as in, that which cannot wholly know the Truth,no matter how hard it might try. Maybe it can be, for some, be like the fingers that give a slight hint as to the possibible existence of the moon. For others arfur might just come across as a lunatic. No matter. And yet, in this way, arfur can never really be a 'truth' that is 'above' or somehow 'better than' the Truth that is in one's own Heart...it's just not possible...and this is a blessing too. Peace

What is religion for you? You might have certain definitions for this, others might choose otherwise. Perhaps for you it is only about facts, for others it
may be more about the deepening of experience.

It should only concern one thing.

Is it true?

You can add as much flowery imagery, inner peace, cosmic influences, and other woo woo gobbledegook as you can pull out of your arse.

The question still remains. Is it true?

Because billions believe doesn’t make it true. Until science came along people believed we were the centre of the universe.
We aren’t, and neither is god.

Cool. And how do you know what is true or not?

Its kind of curious. For me the church that you speak of is where someone might stand at the front of a church and insist that their understand of truth
is better than the Truth that anyone can come to know within them of their own volition. The only way that this can possibly work is to find some
kind of way to preach fear as the truth. Otherwise one might open to the Love within the Heart and say 'sorry, you may have this title or that, this education or that , your opinions might be popular for sure...but still your words do not resonate with the Truth of the Heart that I have known for sure.'

And so, in a way, what I find in your preaching is your own version of fear that just doesn't speak to this heart. But you might have a few here that might buy into your religion (though for marketing reasons probably best give it another name right?)

Beyond this, here's a question. Would it be ok for 'you,' if there could be perhaps one small thread, in which people were free to write in a way that might not fit into 'your' understanding (thinking that might be outside the 'box' that you currently identify with) without people acting on a compulsive need to jump all over them - calling them cunts, mentally ill, deluded, quacks etc as if somehow this makes them higher, more informed, more righteous people. At the moment the answer seems like 'no.' lmao

he doesn't that's the point(he may not have come across like that), the burden of proof is on those who make the claim, which you steadfastly refuse to do since you made such a claim a while back
why don't you create a inner peace and love thread and fill your boots in there, which you are perfectly entitled to do so.
and again you go on about this truth of the heart or whatever soundbite is flavour of the day without any depth to it, is it some supernatural truth or just some human emotion you are experiencing.
obviously you won't answer the question, so don't bother to prevent any rsi that you may start to feel

All these religions and they all disagree with each other. Their followers follow their practices and their dogma because it was taught from their earliest days. So if religion provides the answer to those questions that science has yet to discover, why do they scrap with each other? One recent instance of intolerance is that of DUP leader Arlene Foster who refused to meet the Pope during his recent visit to Ireland. This is just a small incident in the grand scheme of things but it goes to illustrate just what is wrong with NI, and doubtless with other countries throughout the world.

Ah - that part within that feels the need to prove itself and its own version of truth, this surely is a heavy burden. Let go of it and Life might feel lighter in a a practical, known sense. That you want to place this 'burden of proof' on someone else is not surprising - must be such hard work carrying it around...here, here, take my burden. Why not just let go of it, even if just for a moment. Put in on the floor (you can always pick it up again) see how this feels and then maybe you'll discover that no-one has to carry it around.

They just do. Maybe it's because they have practiced it for so long that they can't get it into their minds that what they have been brainwashed with what is a load of contradictory rubbish. Have you ever opened your door to be faced with a Jehovah's Witness trying to save you, a stranger to him, from hell and damnation once you have snuffed it? Very few sinners get struck down by lightning in their living years [which would be better for the rest of us who have to persevere with their evil ways]. If there was a loving, caring God he/she/it would have sorted out the gene pool by now.

Or maybe in turning away from Love within, an unloving world is made? Not as a punishment but as a collective choice. Then, in being closed to Love and Peace within, humanity
tries to understand this fearful, warring world - developing theories whether religious, scientific, moral or whatever. Then might try to convince ourselves that we have succeeded in this or somehow will. But then there may come a time when the theories and all their rules come to be quite tiring and somehow not quite 'It'...at which point we might choose to see if we can turn to Love once more, letting go of investments in war and opening to peace. I know of a fair few people that choosing this way but not so sure about those on this thread. But such is life, for now.

"Members of St. Mark's Church of England, West Gorton, Manchester, founded the football club that would become known as Manchester City, for largely humanitarian purposes. Two church wardens sought to curb local gang violence and alcoholism by instituting new activities for local men, whilst high unemployment plagued East Manchester, specifically Gorton. All men were welcome to join, regardless of religion." wiki

Well that theory never worked did it.

People supporting a club that was founded by a church whilst arguing against their own definition of church. But maybe the truth of a 'church'
is a place to join and play; beyond fighting, beyond sickness and irrespective of 'language' whether that be science, religion or whatever.
