General Videogame Thread

OK so the new x bone has arrived and I unboxed loading in one of the included games WW11 Call of Duty.I am an aficionado when it comes to gaming with the movement of keyboard mouse coupling being good to go.I was whelped on this combo cutting teeth on all the old greats so to put a posh controller in hand has turned me all into fingers and thumbs and now I have to learn to walk again. To be quite Frank controllers are shit as there are loads of buttons and keys presses everywhere and some key presses can be used in conjunction with other key presses.Anyway I have set it for campaign mode and spent the best part of 2 hours storming the beach head.I fired a bangla torpedo into the barbed wire and then leapt into the trench to dance the dance with our Germanic chums. And that's it for now as I keep just getting machined gunned and wasted after ten seconds. This looks like a potentially great game once I get the hang of control which with practice I will. However nothing can take away from me the play-ability of PC gaming and with a good system set up and graphic card can equally render with the best but I have to say the visuals on this behemoth are inceredible to behold having 6 teraflops of graphical happiness underneath it's hood. From what I can glean somewhat akin to an Nvid 1070 card so we shall see.My current PC rig only has the 1050 ti but I am still over the moon with this as it plays most things thrown at it..Maybe I am too long in the tooth for all this pretty nonsense as I still play red alert tiberian and age of empires and whilst they don't drop of the jaw with cutesy visuals they certainly live up to game play and addictivity. Words fail me how far we have all traveled from Horace Goes Skiing.

I'm an old keyboard/ mouse player but I've been using the xbox controller now for a year. It's nice to be able to sit back while playin.

I'm a couple of hours into that Conjuring House(horror)on the pc. As horror games go I'm quite impressed so far, it's actually quite creepy.

Fucking hell mate. Who pissed on your chips?
30 things that will blow my mind.

1. A gun.
2. A lorry running over it.
3. Explosives.

Not some things in other games and taking 2 baths.

I've been gaming since I was 10/11. That's 40 odd years. 40 odd years of pong and everything after it, through ZX's, Dragons, Amigas, Segas, PC's, Nintendos, Sonys etc etc. You name it, I've either played it or owned it, and not once have I thought that making a video and lying about the content would be a good idea.

But it seems to be the norm these days.

Am I excited about this game?

Hell yeah.

Am I angry about having to either wait for the PC version or buy it on the PS?

Fuck yeah.

Will my mind explode?

Nope. Not a fucking chance.

At the moment most of my gaming is on the PC and predominantly first person shooter but I will persevere with the controller.Wife was playing Shadow of the tomb raider on the bone the other night and ripping through the levels.Graphically the game looks amazing. Those kind of genres don't really appeal to me as I cant solve puzzles or think ahead of the game. Apparently you have to help lara master a deadly jungle overcome terrifying tombs and progress through her darkest hour in eidoses latest offing.I will have a look at conjuring house when I get some free time mate:Adios.

Fuck up Bob!

Recently finished Shadow of Mordor. Excellent game. I rarely can be bothered finishing games.

Ive had Metal Gear Solid 5 in my downloads free with gold for some time. Don't know how I missed this one. 5 or 6 hours in and loving it.

Microsoft have confirmed mouse and keyboard support is coming to the Xbox
Does this keyboard and mouse mean a windows lite or a new OS aimed at entertainment for Xbox hardware? Like it or not, if that's the goal it might end up being a selling point for some people who don't really want too many devices cluttering up their living room, for the typical use they get out of them.

It's funny, when they first entered the market the know it alls were scoffing: "It's just off the shelf PC parts and they'll release windows with it and a keyboard and mouse"

Cut to today and most gamers have realised as far as GPUs go(and CPUs IMO) it would be stupid not to use the two main vendors known for those "off the shelf PC parts", even Sony have finally stopped forcing devs to waste tons of R&D just to release games on convoluted-gimmicky hardware, only to have to start all over again the next gen. It seems like a no-brainer to leverage what they have on the PC market now.

Having said that, it might just mean they want to release more PC type games, that would not normally work on a console.

Imagine trying to place an RTS on your 50 inch telly sat well far away would drive me mad.

Haha, sit closer then. ;)

I can't really say any of the typical games I used to play really needed a mouse and keyboard personally, although for FPS games the mouse is way more accurate than an analogue stick.

Mouse and Keyboard will smash any one in an FPS game. Controller is only good for driving games imo, I use it for Rocket League. Not touched my xbox for months now just a shite old outdated thing.

Not sure keyboard and mouse will be used for FPS games. There are a few RTS out for console now like Cities Skylines and grand strategy games are coming soon with Stellaris being the first. So I think it'll be for them first. Also Xbox has a full internet browser which is tricky to use with controller so a mouse and keyboard will be useful for that

Honestly mate if they allow keyboard and mouse on xbox people will get smashed in FPS and cry. No controller compares.
