Pep got this wrong today unfortunately. He hasnt got much wrong since he got here though!

Pep got everything right today. Liverpool are top team, worthy title contenders and Anfield is a place we never do well. We've improved on the result and the performance from there last year. If not for a shit penalty, we would have won. Could argue we should have had a second with Lovren's challenge on Aguero? Still got our best player to come back in KDB too. The team is looking better, we just need to make sure we're more consistent than Liverpool and Chelsea. That will be the only thing separating the 2 this season.

For all the criticism and negativity going on right now I’d say get some perspective. We completely neutralized their back three and we had the only real goal scoring chances. They absolutely needed the points more than we did and they didn’t get them.

Hell, the thing people are bitching about the most is Mendy not being able to play defense and he did amazing today considering all things.

We didn’t even have our best player either.

He backed Mahrez who was banging them in training and it didn’t work out. So what?

He put the brakes on today and it worked a treat. It’s good tool to add to his armoury. Especially champions league.

Zinchencko? Yeah I know :) Left him and his twin off the squad.

Tactical master-class again from the best in the business.

As for not knowing the stats good, fuck it. If we wanted someone who only focuses on stats Fat Sam is availble.

Got it spot on yesterday, defensively very good, didn’t play too much through Fernandinho as they usually targeted him, instead used Stones and Laporte to find the correct passes, wonderful to watch.

Only mistake was having Mahrez take the penalty.

Impressed by Pep's tactics. Absolutely confident we will be up there challenging for back-to-back titles till the end of the season.

On the whole I'd agree with you on stats but knowing how your players perform under the matchday pressure of taking a pen should be part of a coach's brief. I'd have expected either Pep or Arteta to be aware of Mahrez's recent record from the spot.

Had time to reflect on yesterday a bit now. Anybody thought that maybe pep decided to switch the penalty takers because Jesus will have practiced them with Allison in the Brazil sqaud?

I've had to knock off a point on Pep's performance for not having read the dossier on Riyad's penalty woes. My ERO tells me that the last one he missed was for Leicester - at The Etihad. Can't recall it. Was it a save or another ballooned into the South Stand? Or was it left floating in the Ashton Canal?

He actually scored but slipped and touched the ball twice. Very bizarre.

Perhaps they were aware of the following stats?
Jesus. PL Penalties 3. Scored 1 missed 2 (the last 2)
D Silva. PL Penalties 1. Missed
Fernandinho. No PL Penalties. Career penalties 17. Scored 11 missed 6
B Silva. Never taken a penalty
Sane. Never taken a penalty.
All the defenders, never taken a penalty.

What is guaranteed is that, if one of the above had taken the penalty and missed it, BM posters would be demanding to know why Marhez didn’t take it!
