Indeed.

The Americans are pussy footing around it too. Macron is the only G7 leader asking questions. The Turks have discovered alleged audio and video. This is now claimed to be Khashoggi synced his mobile watch to his server. The discovery of bugging devices in a foreign embassy would probably light the tinderbox.

Trump basically said that even if the Saudi’s did it, it’s not enough to prevent thier deal going through and sales continuing

Trump also said, on Tuesday, that he’d heard nothing about it - a former CIA agent(for want of a better phrase) on C4 news said yesterday that Trump not hearing about this days after the incident is almost certainly not true, no surprise there

Back at home, Jeremy Hunt spoke of ‘shared values’ between U.K. and Saudi Arabia. I wonder what they are? We both let women drive, I suppose....

I thought the Republicans in Congress had triggered the Magnitsky Act which compels the President to act? Not sure how effective this will be though.

Linsey Graham has come out and said he's seen the Intel and they should act on it. Trump is playing a deaf un. "I might call them" his reply when asked.

His treasury secretary is still going over there for a conference that many media outlets have refused to go in protest.

I suppose it would be similar to when a Ukranian journalist faked his death blaming the Russians, muted.

Fantastic interview with Bob Menendez from the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, saying that in his twenty-six years of doing the job, he has never seen human rights, the right to oppose, and democracy, ever given a lower priority by a US president. He was talking after Donald Trump hinted at a further deal with Saudi Arabia, worth 110 billion dollars, despite current investigations into the disappearance, and the probable assassination of Jamal Khashoggi.

Trump will put business first, at all costs. For goodness sake, this guy worked for the Washington Post and Turkish officials say they have credible evidence that he was summoned to, and murdered in, the Saudi embassy! It is a monumental story with significant ramifications.

I agree.

It's huge politically throughout the world.

Had a quick look and it seems they have triggered the Act by writing to Trump insisting he take action. Trump has 120 days to act otherwise Congress will take action. This happened with the last round of Russian sanctions which Trump moaned about but couldn’t stop it happening.

Let's see how this all unfolds.

Not the first time they have done it to their own nationals or a foriegner (the story of the lebanese prime minister is crazy)

Give a few weeks and all the world leaders that constantly turn a blind eye to the saudis will stop talking about it.

Of course, Donald is not a fan of the free press, if such a thing exists. This man was a significant journalist, exposing political issues and human rights' abuses. Donald would not have been a fan but will now have to deal with the fact that Khashoggi's voice was muted, permanently.

It would appear that Trump is now blaming rogue Saudis for the alleged murder after Saudi Arabia threatened a strong response to any sanctions. Wouldn't want to upset King Salman and jeopardise the $110bn arms deal with his "severe consequences". He's sent Pompeo out there to agree a cover story that will stop him having to do anything at all.

Yet it looked to me like the Saudis have had the place virtually bleached clean before the Turkish investigators were allowed in.
Yeah, ‘course is was a rogue.

Them rouge saudis that flew in on an official jet, spent the day in the embassy then flew back out on the same jet?

Trump is such a gobshite.

He changed his tune over deals and money - why is anyone surprised?

And people still think he will do us a good turn in trade talks.............................ffs

The Saudis are about to announce they killed them due an "interrogation that went wrong" according to CNN

I've heard better fibs from Mourinho.
