Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

A 23 year old who scored contributed to 35+ goals last season. How hard would it be to find another of his age who can do the same? And how much would it cost

We'll kick ourselves for years if we don't pay up.

Really depends on what he will settle for and what Madrid will pay us for him. I think he may be on his way back to Spain in a year or so.

If the figures reported are accurate then he is worth what he is asking in today’s market. It would be a colossal mistake to let him leave. Has been one of if not our best performer so far this season.

If the figures are true and he is on 175k and wants 275k, I think we have to pay it.

He is asking for approx an extra 2/3 and I think he is twice the player he was when we signed him.

For that first season he was overpaid and potentially his second. These last 2 he’s been amazing and worth every penny.

I would like us to actually do what United do and try and get our players contracts to have an optional 12 month extension on the side of the club.

I don’t see why more clubs don’t do this, but can’t imagine we’re being outdone by Woodward, so there must be a commercial reason.

I just know if we had this option on Raz I would be more relaxed.

Why? We make a fair offer and no more. Two goals against an average side changes nothing. Hope he stays but not at any price.

If the reports are to be believed though, based on his current performances and his position in the squad, he doesn't seem to be asking for anything above what many consider fair (by today's crazy standards). It's being reported he wants something just a level below what our top earners are getting. It's really clear our manager rates him highly and considers him a very important player to us. His performances for us already warrant that kind of salary, he's only 23 and he's still improving. He's a big asset to us and I really hope we can keep hold of him.

Really need to get him signed

The amount it would cost us to replace him is insane

That regular supply of goals & assists
The current price of players
The English Premium

I think the sticking point is ultimately he fancies playing in Spain. We need to convince him if he does four more years here he will only be twenty seven and can still achieve that ambition.

Maybe because you have players playing for 12 months when they don't want to be there?

If he went would we replace him like for like. It may be leaving more room for Foden and Diaz and also opening up an opportunity to bring back Sancho assuming he keeps on improving.
