Crap towns

I reckon most inland Irish towns are pretty crap if we're being honest, architecturally ugly with a sense of lifelessness in them. Apart from Kilkenny, Cashel, Glasson and Adare off the top of my head.

You can't actually name that many picturesque places in Ireland in fairness, most of it is dreary and dull. A consequence of being so poor for centuries.
Not all of it. Down around Kerry, around Connemara, along the West Coast generally and parts of the North Coast around Antrim, parts of Wicklow; the "tourist-y places, they're generally not too bad. Most of the small towns though; its like Chernobyl after, not before. And a lot of Dublin is pretty grim. And.... it's full of Jackeens!

Just watched that movie 'cardboard gangsters' set in Dublin, looked pretty grim

There's a few undesirables around Dublin now. It's gone pretty lawless (in parts) over the past three or four years. Google "Hutch Kinahan feud". Before that, it was Limerick (the Dundon Mccarthy- Keane Collopy feud).

Dublin is like any city really, good and bad parts. The Grafton street area, Georgian squares on the Southside, all the coastal villages from Malahide right down to Greystones are lovely. Plenty of nice villages too, although north-east inner city and parts of west Dublin are run down to fuck.

May I respectfully add my home town of Clonakilty to the list. So much happening there and so colourful. A true gem in a sea of mediocrity. Best small town in the world IMHO - biased as I am. Miss it every day and get back as often as I can.

Oh I meant inland towns. Southwest Ireland, from Tramore to Dingle is mostly fantastic.

As for UK kips, Holyhead and Middlesbrough.

Bolton - what little quality it had has been fast overtaken by Bury plus the locals are all mongs. Plymouth. Based here whilst in the Navy and all I can say is "Fucking hell!!"
Think somebody else also mentioned Borehamwood earlier in the thread. I will second that after seeing it as a young police officer as various councils from North London used it as a deposit point for their worst scum. Even when the local non-league team used to play friendlies against an Arsenal or Spurs XI it would usually end in violence.
