I'm not sure he said "City". In the transcript I read (and I forget where) he said the team whose name I can't even mention. Rather like Ferdinand, who said, "Congratulations to the other team", he is a prick.
I remember when Ferdinand made that sour-pussed remark that I wondered was he following some weird, in-house protocol of not being allowed to mention Manchester City in a complimentary way.
I dismissed as just me being over-sensitive or trying on a tin foil hat for size or something.
Then, Moyes took all sorts of flak for one off the cuff comment in a pitch-side press conference. Of course, he wasn't sacked for that alone - but, if you do want to play the conspiracy game - it has widely been referred to as indicative of the way his reign was circling the toilet bowl. Imagine: complimenting City on being a better team - when they clearly were - being such a source of actual distress to them.
Then, Cantona described us as 'the team whose name I cannot mention' (or words to that effect, m'lud) and the same suspicion flared has flared in my tiny, paranoid mind again.
It can't be so, can it..? I mean, everybody knows that WE are the small club with the small time mentality. :-)
*Sits back and waits for the usual know-all clowns to bore everyone with their half boiled theories on how the media really works/ confirmation bias/ why I''m really sad for reading a pattern into three similar but isolated incidents over a six year period.
I know I am. Piss off and let me have my fun *
