Helicopter crash involving Leicester City owners

Cleavers I am fully aware of this lol! Just been brushing up on CAA helicopter operations it does make for some interesting reading especially operating helicopters in built up areas .
I'm outside London, but we regularly see them fly over where I live, as we are close to one of the entrances into the London control zone. I would think we get 10-20 pass over every day, at 500 feet and above, police are around regularly, and many small ones head to Silverstone, which is not far away, plus plenty of military helicopters, as we are not far from the main helicopter military base either.

A mass of people would generate hot air ,this would be trapped in the stadia , hot air is thinner thus not giving the rotor blades the same lift as colder denser air would .
It happened 90 minutes after the crowd left, and in any case the less dense warmer air would rise through the cold denser air, and so wouldn't be "trapped". If weather was in way involved, more likely it would be wind shear, with very light wind inside the stadium, and possible stronger winds above it, but pilots are well trained for that, and I don't think the winds were particularly strong yesterday evening.

Yes I’m well aware however the temperature differential would be a degree or two at the most and not something that would be a problem for a £2m piece of kit such as the Augusta Westland AW-169 in question.

And even if it had any effect (which I don’t for a moment believe it would) then the effect would be an increase in lift as it exited the stadium.

Either way it is all terribly sad and my thoughts are with the families of all involved.

I know! but swp was questioning how atmospheric pressure etc could affect a helicopter performance. I just gave an example of how thinner air ie. Warmer gives less lift than denser air ie. Colder air that's all . Hmm seems like blue Moon has morphed into pprune !!! Lol !! Sorry just realized it wasn't cleavers but yourself swp!!

Leicestershire Police has issued a statement calling for "patience" and to "resist speculating".

We understand there is a considerable amount of public and media interest into the helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium last night (Saturday 27 October)," the statement read.

"News of the crash, which happened in a car park near the stadium just after 8.30pm, has had an impact on many people and we appreciate there is a clear desire for updates and clarity around the circumstances.

"Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service all responded to the incident last night and enquiries continue at the scene today (Sunday 28 October), led by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB). These enquiries are expected to continue over the coming days.

"As soon as we are able to confirm any further details around the incident, we will do so.

"In the interim we ask that you are patient, understanding and resist speculating on the detail and the circumstances."

We took off in two acre field in NI there was a large tree in one corner and nothing else and yes we hit it its strange what a good gust of wind will do

Oh, but it is...NOW MORE THAN EVER!

There are more important things in life, like the health and welfare of one’s children, but people die in accidents every day. Should we not celebrate life and walk around with our heads bowed for the rest of our days? Isn’t every life sacred? What of the faceless names that die every day?

As I said, it is tangential, at best, to the rest of the games, but I expect a show of respect. Do we do the same if Hoddle dies of a widow maker? What about Ferguson? Would we have all had to suspend the League for a weekend if he died? Where does it end? Who is too low down the totem pole of moneyed influencers to get a weekend off football...or anything else, for that matter?

This is getting a bit like the clapping at every fucking game because a supporter died. Hypersensitivity gone mad. Everyone trying to “out sensitive” each other.

I feel very badly for everyone involved in EVERY DEATH that takes place, but, seriously, where does it all end? Grief theatre is becoming the norm and everyone has to have some ridiculous fake outpouring of sentiment for someone they couldn’t give a fuck about until they died, then the waterworks get turned on and everyone has to stop what they are doing and genuflect in the general direction of wherever they died.

There are REAL problems in the world and regular people dying horrific deaths, often at the hands of evil people, and we turn a blind eye every day, or turn the channel so we don’t have to see the pictures, or ignore the news reports because, well, it seems to happen every day and you’re having your tea, right?

A Premier League owner dying in his private helicopter crash on his way back to his palatial home after the match isn’t exactly a mournful experience in my life. Certainly wouldn’t wish it on him or anyone else, and I’m sure his family and friends are devastated, as would yours or mine if it were you or me, but it wasn’t. This is a private matter. When did death suddenly come with a healthy dose of tabloid news and faux public outcry?

Let his family take care of their needs, which I’m sure they are more than capable of, and let the rest of the world show respect by leaving them to it and giving them the time, space and lack of public spectacle that might actually show them the respect we all claim we want for them.

He was much, much more than a simple "owner" to us. He developped a real bond with us fans, gave millions for the hospital and the university's medical department, not counting other charities. He did a lot not only for the club but also for the city. And naturally, without him 2015/16 wouldn't have been possible. He's been an integral part of our city since he came and we like to consider him as one of us, whatever the differences in income were.

So while I can understand where you're coming from, downplaying the tragedy to a simple "billionaire dying in his helicopter on his way back to his palace" could be seen as a bit reducing, even insensitive.

Anyway I didn't come here to start an argument, so I'll leave it at that. Again my deepest thanks to all of you.

Take care.

That’s absolutely true and if Leicester were playing today or tomorrow (or anytime soon) then I’d totally agree with a postponement.

CB was replying to someone suggesting the games today and tomorrow not be played so I can also very much understand where he’s coming from.

Deepest sympathies with the Leicester football club family and I hope your club’s future remains strong.

Extremely sad news. Deepest condolences. From all accounts he was a terrific owner. Goes to many home games, donated to the local hospital and community and formed a real bond with them. Not to mention their incredible season winning a PL title for what was a mid table club. Sad to hear his daughter was also on board. I'm not a father but you don't want a child to go like that. Must be horrible last moments when they realize what's going to happen

Daily Express confirmed his daughter wasn't on board, unless you've heard different?
