Mark Andrew Developments, who own Walrus, Tusk, Hula, Rosylee, Blue Pig and The Fitzgerald, amongst others, have gone into liquidation tonight.

Sad news, presumably there will be a lot of job losses as a result. Blow for the Northern Quarter and also Heaton Moor, where there is a Tusk, Hula and Fitzgerald too.

Wow. On the back of Rabbit in the Moon, Manchester House and Artisan in the last few days.

He’s a fucking wide-boy (so I’m told) :-)

Hula is a fantastic night. Gareth Brooks is a great bloke and a helluva DJ. Gonna miss that place. Loved the cocktails in the Fitzgerald too. Real shame.

All of these bars open in a blaze of publicity / celebs etc and within months go into liquidation and another bar opens in their place - brash opening and celebs abound and then go into liquidation etc etc etc
The city centre long ago reached saturation point.... Chorlton will be next to be hit when they do up Moston Lane into the next hip place to go.

Someone else will take them over, mate - and almost certainly run them along similar lines. There’s never any shortage of egomaniacs wanting to run a city centre venue, especially in somewhere as happening as Manchester.

Ooooh Moston lane, i can walk there instead of taxi's to the Northern Quarter.

Ivy restaurant opening in November , 535 covers that is a lot of people, chefs waiting on staff etc .

Had a great meal at the Ivy by Tower Bridge in London - looking forward to the brand coming to Manchester.

I noticed today that Byron is now down to a single outlet in Piccadilly, with Deansgate closing after the Corn Exchange branch shut at the start of the year.

Not on my budget it isn’t :-)

Don't confuse the Celeb Haunted Ivy with the Grills and Brasseries - Brum has a two-course set menu for £16.50 during the day and mains run around £15 on the main menu. That's reasonable compared to a ticket to watch City at home, though budgets and priorities may be different...... If you are on your complete uppers, then apologies.

ssshh you'll be spoiling my carefully crafted image as a high-roller ;-)

Lives not too far from me (and Ric). He has some nasty neon lighting outside his lovely Victorian semi.

Not heard any rummors - last i heard was Hula in Heaton Moor was still pushing for a latter license than what they had and Tusk appeared to be going strong.
Sad news as the staff will get nothing.

I'm not an accountant and maybe someone can correct me, but if a company goes into liquidation, doesn't it come up as in liquidation straight away on the Companies House website. This company is down as still active with nothing filed in the last few days at all.
