It is, but it has some great old villages and countryside surrounding it.

Not far wrong there. Some of those M62 corridor towns around Warrington and Wigan are like the dark ages.

Everybody I've ever met from Ashton-in-Makerfield stank of shite as well and had about 3 teeth between the full family.

I have to quietly agree with you there Carlito,as I moved to Ashton in Makerfield 3 years ago. But all the off shoot towns around the M62 corridor wouldn't appear in any English Tourist Board brochures!

Met some quite friendly people from this area in previous jobs, don't get me wrong, but personal appearance and brain cells are usually lacking.

That's because it's a choice of one or the other;-) You're right,having lived here now for 3 years they are mostly all friendly welcoming people. Although their allegiances seem to be split between either football or rugby. Seems they can't enjoy both.
