Drury was positively glowing in his praise for City during the BT Sport broadcast of or UCL match against Shakhtar Donetsk, anointing our side as the best in European football, clear favorites for both the P/L and C/L titles.

Well he’s no wrong. I don’t believe there is a better team out there at the minute.

It is an absolute privilege to watch and say that I support this wonderful club and the football we play. I honestly think that no matter what the media say there are many, many people out there who know we are playing wonderful football as well

I thought BT sports commentator was virtually wetting himself last night - not just the performance but the team and club in general.
Can just imagine what fans on other club’s forums are saying right now

I genuinely think they are trying to build the side up... when in fact... an injury could hurt us badly. Let's get this right. The favourites are Real. By a country mile based on experience. Then it's Barca having won the thing countless times in between and were so dominant v Inter, then us.

I don’t think that’s getting “it right” remotely.

I don’t think Real are favourites. Loathe him all you want, but take Ronaldo out of that team and they are far more weak than us losing a key player. He’s that good (with them). Look at where they are in the league. That’s not solely down to the manager, it’s with the loss of his goals.

We are quite rightly the favourites and it’s easy to see why.

Why do that when you can quote:
Paul Merson

If Pep stays at City long-term, which is not a given as things can change quickly in football, then the power is with City. My slight worry with City is that there are no youngsters coming through. Phil Foden does not get a game, Jadon Sancho left - and City are not the youngest team in the world. If Pep had brought three or four kids through, then you would be thinking 'wow' but they have got the ammunition to buy the ready-made player.

Not the youngest team and no young players coming through you say?

merson needs to have a rethink 5th youngest squad in the prem

I don’t know why everyone gets so worked up about journos.

Anyone with even a modicum of intelligence knows that journalists are widely reviled by the man in the street as muck raking truth stretching dirt balls with only a handful of noble exceptions. Due to the now now now demands of the younger generation journo standards have nosedived from an already questionable level of decency and morality to the level of writing anything controversial just to get a click. They aren’t journalists, they’re fishermen. Don’t bite.
Take a look at the rags agenda/journo threads, you'll laugh, they are absolutely convinced we have all the press in our pockets.

The best one is the Martin Tyler thread, the hatred they think he has for them is unbelievable. In fact this is a post from their site owner Niall

"Tyler is such a miserable fecker when it comes to United, I'm convinced he's a massive Gooner and hates our guts"

But we on here think Tyler loves them, fuckin football forums eh, you gotta love them.

I think you are right was talking to a spuds fan who said how great Sterling is and he couldn't understand how he gets so much stick when playing for England...….his words " England were shit once Sterling was taken of ...no one making runs to keep the defenders busy and its not Sterling faults that englands midfield cant pick out his runs !!!!"

Well he’s no wrong. I don’t believe there is a better team out there at the minute.

And it's this that is getting stuck firmly in the craw of raggy papers like the Sun. They go after Sterling to unsettle, but it seems to be having quite the opposite effect (!), they go after the club by striking out one of our goals on today's back page (Did they ever do that with the rags when Ash the Crash took a nose-dive?), and they go after the Good Sheikh by suggesting that it's ADs sovereign wealth that is the curse of the game today. If it's gonna choke 'em I would only ask that they speed up the process!

Unable to locate a detailed report on the 6-0 win on the Daily Express on-line website. Only trolling Sterling and Guardiola, the latter for comparing the penalty incident to a Milner incident last season. Weird journalism. Surely most English football fans want to read about an English team thrashing East European opponents.

They do, but since we struck lucky with the kindness of the Good Sheikh the English press have shifted Beswick, Clayton, and Gorton into Oceania! They will never spout the oft-used throwaway of supporting an English team in Europe if we were the only one left.

I thought it said it all when Bilic said after the game that he couldn't believe that Sterling went off and that the Croatian defenders must have breathed a sigh of relief.

just read the BBC`s `how damaging are the Man City football leaks story` I know i should not have but, it raked up every piece of muck it could with absolutely no balance, that dan roan is a complete clown, he even lies twice when he said that UEFA were unaware even though they were investigating at the time , and that UEFA had not replied to the latest insinuations , when they have come out very strongly against football leaks, and at the end the clown does not even answer his question `how damaging are the Man City football leaks`? all in all the BBC should be ashamed of themselves over this unbalanced badly investigated tirade against Manchester City

I thought it was a reasonably fair article actually.

There is damage. Not primarily the leaks, but the opportunity it has provided to the (unbiased) Media to conduct a smear campaign. They will continue to use the allegations as they know they cannot face the same repercussions as they would if they had made them. The trickle down effect is to the casual football fan who believe whatever garbage they are fed.
As to the allegations within the leaks, dieing a slow painful death.

'reasonably fair' eh ?
Roan tried to squeeze every particle of his hatred for City into that BBC piece of sanctimonious lying sewage - their legal team were very accommodating as usual

"Man City: How damaging are the Football Leaks allegations?

  • City always maintained they had acted within the regulations. Such a denial now appears undermined.
  • City, PSG and other clubs appear to have made a mockery of FFP
  • And while some observers will be dismayed by Der Spiegel's rare and fascinating insight into the murky underbelly of the football industry, and the decisions apparently taken by City's hierarchy as they plotted their assault on English football's established order, others will merely view it as reinforcing their suspicions and their perceptions of a game already tainted by a series of financial controversies....
  • it is increasingly hard to be shocked when it comes to football and money. Combine that fatigue with fans' tribalistic loyalty to their team, and it is easy to see why sport seems so able to withstand such controversies....
  • Clubs that are backed these days not just by private investors, but by the rulers of entire petro-states, armed with sovereign wealth funds. ..."
etc etc

Yeah Sterling definitely didn’t dive, it was a clear referee mistake. You were by far the better team and didn’t look like conceding the whole game so obviously the result wasn’t really affected. Have to admit the media have gone way over the top on this one (I personally thought the Kompany against Burnley was worse). I’d rather be reading double page spreads on how shite we were Tuesday because until we get some proper stick I can’t see our performances getting any better any time soon! Everyone just keeps papering over the problems!

Only thing I can think of is if Sterling didn’t want to be booked for diving if he told the referee could he not have taken the penalty and just hit it wide? Seen teams do that before. You Would’ve had to have hit the media for all of the right reasons then?

Yeah and last season Robertson and Milner should both have scored deliberate own goals, because Robertson knew he had taken out Sterling and a penalty should have been given and Milner knew he had deliberately played the ball before Sanes goal was given offside.

Forgot about those did you?

I just don't see how a team who've won it again and again and again, cannot be favourites. It's not like Ronaldo won it on his own. They won 5-0 yesterday resting Isco Ascensio and Modric. We rested players too.. I'm happy for people to say we play the best football, or we are a great team. But in a knockout comp, where teams have so much know-how to win - I cannot see how we are favourites - not being pessimistic just realistic. I sound like Pep here when he talks about our history in competitions isn't as strong as others but he's right. We can be talked about as favourites to dislodge either of the Spanish clubs in winning the damn thing. But you have to put them ahead of us... I know it's for us to prove otherwise but honestly no blue is putting good money on us winning it.
