Media coverage 2018/19

I do love the 'rare corner' line. Not that corners matter but it was one of the few areas where we actually came out on top. Other than total shots, shots on target and possession of the ball, obviously........

What I also love about City not doing that well, occassionally, is that it gives all the other sides 'the blueprint' on how to beat us or not get beaten by us. Dippers showed everyone in February, rags in April, Wolves in the autumn and now Lyon have done it twice. All the games were on the tv so, now we have been so cruelly exposed, and I fully expect us to struggle to win another game all season!!

Might as well give up now, I agree.

In certain quarters he is, no doubt, but at the Beeb they just don't like City, naturally enough given their social media team is largely made up of United fans.

Arguably Its a fair argument for some of their media comment but on MOTD last season it was non-stop praise and we were constantly one of the featured matches. I do agree some for what ever reason do not like our model and its reflected in some of their articles as so much writing is opinion based, but not sure it reflects, even at the BBC, a whole organisation. For example some people think Sky are anti-City or the MEN which is plainly ridiculous.

That's fair, that's what happens when you have footballers talking football, they by and large say it as it is, however when you get fans talking football they're not professional enough to leave their bias aside.

Yes I listened to the esteemed Neil ****is this morning, The Manchester Correspondent for what some people term a Newspaper. What a balanced coverage this man conveys. I think you may worked with him at Wonkas-)
Custis was unbelievably pro mourinho, and nobody on talk sport put up any kind of argument, gutter media

They would be hard pushed to feature a 0-0 between Stoke and West Brom when City had just bagged another hat full against the latest victims.

I do not think every time we featured on MOTD last season west brom drew 0-0 with Stoke in fact the results last year were a 1-1 draw and a 3-1 Stoke victory between those sides.

Sky aren't anti-City, they're pro profit and as such pander to the rags ( I'm allowed say the rags I think) and Liverpool fans, I can appreciate how that may come across to some as anti-City.

Even the club apparently complained about the lack of ex City players being asked to do punditry on Sky.

Yes we topped all the stats away from home at a tough ground against a lively decent side. Sure we rode our luck a little but so did they.

The game could have gone either way. We could have won it by 4-2 and they couldn't have complained. They could have won it by the same margin and we would have cursed our defence, but no one was outplayed!

Exactly and as business that is what they are fully entitled to do. It does not display bias or an agenda and I think thats an imortant distinction to make. We may not like it but its commercial decisions.

Now people will point to the BBC and say why do united/pool get more coverage than ourselves? Again for the same reasoning regardless of whether they are supposed to be impartial, not driven by profit etc rightly or wrongly. Its not evidence of bias.

The same reason football gets more coverage than lacrosse, City more coverage than West Ham and United more coverage than us. The BBC is still driven by clicks, hits etc.

But we have been low down the pecking order with some dire games shown before us in the recent past. Not that I can bother watching it these days with Lineker fronting the programme.

And do you think that is unique to us or do you think other clubs may have similar examples?

I'm sure it's the reason many people no longer view the programme, no matter who they support. Unless they support the usual suspects of course. It's not about favouritism to me, it's about balance and MOTD doesn't have it.

Lineker’s praise for us over the last two years has been positively effusive. What’s your beef with him?

I can't remember the game, but when the pundits went on and on about City's shortcomings defensively last season, it was Lineker who showed amazement at it all pointing out that City had won the game. He loves how City play.

MOTD is a programme to record and flick through on a Sunday morning. As a football show it is for the unwashed, football for idiots.
How many times have they analysed a player, built them up as a World beater only for them to disappear two weeks later.
I remember back in the day, they gave Barney Daniels a build up.
