It must be so demoralising for opponents when Eddie has the ball at his feet as they know they have to press him whilst also knowing he is going to make them look silly with his calmness and accuracy
Its as if the opposition know what will happen and,try as they might, they cant prevent it :-)

He's capable of making saves that are as good as any keeper in the world can make but the one thing that really gets overlooked is his bravery and his physical presence. All teams play better when they've got a big, brave goalie who makes decisive moves. Occasionally they'll get one wrong but a team's confidence depends on the character of the keeper more than any other player's. De Gea and Neuer are both much less brave than Eddie and you can see it in the way they keep. They show that they know they can get hurt. Eddie knows it but it doesn't show.

He should of saved that header from Wilson, and I think he should of saved Lyons second goal midweek, he's a good keeper but he still needs to pull off one or two top saves when we have a slender lead or we are drawing.

Would I have liked him to - of course, do I think he could have - no
I think some just need to be a little more realistic with their expectations
What expectations, the fact he needs to improve his shot stopping, it's not a dig at Ederson coz he's a great keeper, but like the outfield players improvement is necessary in certain areas of there game, and he's not exempt from debate.

I agree. We have an inside right/left in goal. He seems to stop the split second reactive shot but has some trouble if there's a second or so to decide. He needs to be put in the TV room and made to watch some old videos of Bert T and see how the best goalie the world has ever seen, or will see, used to catch the likes of Wilson's header one handed with his left!

Your expectation that he should have saved the two you alluded to. Yes, he can improve, but imo you chose two poor examples by which to measure him by

His footwork and distribution is phenomenal, something I've never seen before from a goalkeeper.

Its not two poor examples, Its the more recent ones, he won us the game at old Trafford last season with a great save at the death, all I'm saying is improvement is needed this season also if we are to win the league or go far in the champions league.

I agree, all I'm saying is he needs to improve, and if he gets to Bert T levels well the champions league will be in the bag.

A couple of points

Yes, his saving can improve, but that applies to every player in every league irrespective of position played
He spends most of his time being a spectator like you and I so is not constantly facing shots to save
If he doesn't improve any further this season, you will be in a very small minority who thinks we wont win the league or go far in the chumps this season

On the basis of what he actually has to do, other than the one stop a season that saves our bacon or preserves all the points, I can only marvel at his concentration levels. His distribution is on another planet compared to someone like Begovic. There were two or three occasions yesterday where Bournemouth closed us down and I thought we were gonna get fucked but Eddie found a pass from somewhere!

Absolutely love him and wouldn't swap him for anyone (to play for City). However it has been a while since he last pulled off a save that wow'ed me. Not a criticism, just an observation.

He made a save yesterday, what does it matter if it's a hollywood save so long as he keeps it out of the net?
Oh bore off. You obviously don’t understand the point which is I don’t remember the last time he made a save I wouldn’t expect him to make. Fuck all to do with “Hollywood”.

He doesn't get enough credit for his concentration levels. He's used more as an outfield player than a goalkeeper. I fucking love the guy. He's Steve McQueen in Cool Hand Luke.
