FA Cup 3rd Rd Draw - Rotherham (H), 2pm Sunday 6th Jan 2019

May 4th 1966 at Millmoor. Was there when a single Colin Bell goal against Rotherham that night clinched promotion. Was the first thing that came into my mind when the draw was made.
Stan Horne turned out for us that night..

TV Picks?

When do they announce that? And is it three for BT and three for BBC (like last year 3rd round)?

Surely we’ll make the cut ... can’t see six other ties than PL champions vs a lower league team with chance of an upset a couple of days after the Liverpool clash ...

1- Wolves v Liverpool
2 - Scum v Reading (actually this is 1 by default)
3 and 4 - Spurs and Arsenal games?
What else??

No way should we be on tv. It’s an absolutely rubbish game for neutral fans.

But if storyline is Liverpool beat City to go top of the league 2 days before that ... how will the champions react, and TV would want that game ... at least that's what's brewing in the media's heads for their darlings ... for the same reason Liverpool's game would be picked as well. I think both our and Liverpool's ties get picked especially as that City v Liverpool is with Sky ... and BT Sport would want the very next one!

No IF'S, Dippers WON'T beat us !

That's what you and I and all of us City fans think ... but the media is wishing them on ... didn't you hear about how the narrative was all neutrals were happy with their last min win over Everton on the weekend because all neutrals are wishing them on ... and going by that, TV can't wait till after that match in January to decide whom to pick for FA Cup ties ... so they will take that (however deluded) view now.

When do they announce TV picks anyway? It's normally pretty quickly after the draw!

I'm not doubting the dipper love in pal, but they won't get anywhere near us in Jan. Trust me.

Can’t argue with your logic but it’ll still be a shit game for the neutral!

A quick Google and just realized it's under the new TV deal from this season on for FA Cup meaning seven ties would be on TV for this round (yes SEVEN, that's two more than last few years year, BBC Wales showed an extra game last year making it six as an exception) ... so for this round it's five on BT Sport and two on BBC and would include one Friday night, one Saturday night and one Monday night games with the rest two each during daytime Sat and Sun ... BBC gets the first pick!

Following on from the qualifying rounds, both broadcasters will share live coverage of every round of the competition proper from early November, with BT Sport showing more live matches under the new TV deal than before, covering up to 30 live FA Cup matches live each season, alongside the BBC’s free-to-air coverage.

For rounds one and two, the BBC will showcase one live match while BT Sport will show three matches. From the third round onwards, the BBC will continue to show the first pick of live games from the competition on terrestrial television, with two matches per round from round three to the quarter-finals, as well as one semi-final and the final live on BBC One.

BT Sport also will cover an additional match from rounds three to five of the competition under the terms of the new deal, meaning up to five live games per round on its channels from January onwards.

Both channels will equally split live coverage of the quarter-final and semi-final ties. The 2019 FA Cup Final will broadcast live on both BBC One and BT Sport on Saturday, 18 May.

FFS, game is on a Sunday 2.00 ko

Surprise surprise the rags are on live. Suppose TV want to see a shock which it will be if they win

I guess some of this is because the league cup semifinals would be the Tue/Wed after the FA Cup 3rd round, limiting the choices for some days.
BT Sport chasing advertising is as guaranteed a thing as you'd want.

The Arsenal match pretty match had to be chosen, but Utd home to equally awful Reading (which seems to happen every other season) could be the stuff of nightmares. If Utd continue to charge £45 for tickets, it might not be very full.
