Hoffenheim (H) Post Match Thread

Great game.Sane motm brilliant tonight.
Backed up by Foden,Sterling and Silva.
Laporte and Otamendi good in defence with Ederson great as well.
Fullbacks a worry though. If Danilo can get fit he surely deserves a chance.

Second half was crazy, has there ever been a team like Hoffenheim who leave nobody back for a corner, thought they made it easy for us to counter second half, happy with result but not a good team performance, gundogan has to do his little turn nearly every time before releasing the ball slows us down. Top of the group all that matters.
Is the correct answer.

Shocking start with Laporte giving away a pen early doors but we got better and Sane dug us out of the poo. An amazing free kick and an excellent second. We should have scored 3 or 4 in the second half but we were a bit wasteful. Bernardo should have scored and Jesus - well what can I say. Sould have scored 2. For a striker is he good enough?
Foden certainly is but he needs games to reach the level of the Silvas. He grew into this game and overall played very well.
Bernardo is 24. I’m pretty sure that by the time Phil is 24 he will be at that level.

As I said in the match day thread, Jesus’s contribution to this team is much more than goals. he is probably the hardest working player on the team. He never stops running, he creates so much space for his teammates and his back tracking is phenomenal. yes, I wish he scored more goals but I really don’t care as long as someone is scoring.

Wow the praise of Foden was surprising, absolutely woeful in possession. Not a problem because he’s got bags of potential and will be a future star for us but for me especially first half he looked out of depth. I love how direct Sterling has become, even if he loses it at times tonight when we was struggling him driving at defenders can make things happen. Job done
Only saw it on telly but I thought phil’s struggles in the first half were down to not quite being on the same wavelength as the others rather than being sloppy in possession. With our amazing movement it’s hard to pick the right pass and a split second of hesitation can make a good pass look poor. Says a lot for the lad that he didn’t get disheartened by a ropey start and improved as the game wore on.

A solid 7/10 display for me.

I know I`ll get slagged for this ,as I have a large wad of notes, ref Jesus being here in 2021.
As I`ve said before I hope I`m proved wrong ... but he`s NO Sergio.
Was ill when Richarlison went to Everton. He's the one we should have moved for in the Summer.
Notwithstanding that, we do need a centre forward. The way Jesus plays he is going to be very injury prone and Aguero has about 12 weeks off each season.
Putting midfielders and wingers at CF never works. I know Pep likes loads of midfielders, but there aren't many Messi's about who can do both jobs

Yep. As good as it was being down in 115 as opposed to our usual 3rd tier seats, you had prepubescent looking scrotes (some with inexplicably greying hair?) Snaekily blowing whistles at corners and free kicks. Fucking weird.

good result sane Laporte and second half sterling foden and Eddie great but don't care what anyone says zinchenko brings nothing to our team never has not slating the kid but nowhere near good enough for our team.

Amusing game that was far too open emend looked more or less Pellegrini style. We deserved to win. Still trying to figure out how both Sane and Jesus didn’t score a hat trick. But you really have to admire the latter for the work rate and making others look better. Very humble kind a player who will come good no doubt.
Foden grew in to the game. A pleasant bonus.

top of the group, and er that's about it. Injuries have taken the edge off our fluid fast moves, even so, the number of mistakes all over the pitch was a reminder that we are not the finished article yet. Hof had more clear chances than any visiting team i can recall in recent times, probably due to Fern's absence, Eddie had to be at his best on a couple of occasions because the defence were more like strangers than team-mates. If every chance had gone in, it would have been the highest scoring "game" in the history of the CL. Probably
Enough with the negative stuff, young Phil shrugged off making a couple of mistakes and fully justified his selection. Everyone put in a shift, some magic moments from Gab, Raz, Bernardo and of course Leroy.

Couldn’t see it properly from behind the goal - was it deffo a pen for them?
I would say so, Laporte had his arms around The Hoffenheim player although I thought he went down very easily. I thought The Hoffenheim player may have been offside before the foul but I’m not certain about that.

100% onside.
