I’d love to see Sterling actually perform against them. It would lift a weight of his shoulders and keep Robertson occupied. At Anfield last season he retreated into his shell and Robertson got very confident and surged forward.

Yeah, remembering the faces of the crowd in the front couple of rows that day, it doesn’t surprise me that both players performed as they did. Won’t be the case tomorrow and I’m expecting Raheem to shine

That's why I suspect we will set up similar to the game at Anfield, with more legislation for being countered.

We created three or four decent opportunities that day, mainly sliding Mahrez in across the 18-yard box.

Liverpool, on the other hand, had probably two half sighters, both Salah?

One when he cut inside Laporte, before curling a comfortable shot into Eddie hands.

The other was one I would have expected him to have scored last season, when Eddie got caught in no-man's land and Salah missed the opening to loft it over him first time.

Mendy was really disciplined that day, so concerned about the lack of height on that far post and Zinchenko ball watching.

I do have much room for optimism, though. Arnold was given a chasing on his side against Arsenal and looked to be feeling the pace of missing a few games.

Just keep Robertson from going over the halfway line, he is crucial to how Liverpool play in so many ways, which is why Napoli in the first leg did a number on him.

Yeah, hopefully the team are studying some of their European performances this season..

Liverpool are unlikely to win the CL because of their lack of depth. Klopp will focus main effort on winning their first Premier League title.
Liverpool still can also win the FA Cup. However based on their depth, playing same rotation in a high press system they are due to sustain injuries and fatigue.

Liverpool are currently riding high on confidence and have all but forgotten their good fortune in winning or drawing some earlier games this year. If City properly throttle Liverpool this will cause them to wobble. Current day Liverpool have a history of wining no trophies and this mentality may quickly return should they lose a game or two.

A healthy City have the far better and deeper talented team and Manager to win on all fronts this year!

City to win 3 - 1.

If we can stop them from scoring I think there's a good chance we won't lose...

The powers that be will still find away to avoid us getting a point because Steven Gerrard should never have slipped at that pivotal moment all those years ago.

In fact replays showed he was fouled and have now retrospectively given Liverpool and honorary title for that season to be presented to them including Stevie the next manager of Liverpool by the Queen.

Either that or they will deduct our point because we fielded KDB who was not allowed to play because he was not 100 per cent fit to play any part in this match.

I agree they will focus on the league who wouldn't in their position but they could still go deep in Europe playing sides who are not on top of their game this season.

Be nice if Dortmund knocked them out in the semis.

Gundogan set to return after missing the win at Southampton, kinda sums it up. When he plays our tempo is slow down IMO. Be interesting to see our performance stats with and without him. My guess is that we are better off resting him

If we score more than them then I think we will win.
If it's a game of two half's with eleven men a side and lasts for 90 minutes plus time for injuries and we score one goal more than them, then I think we are in with a good shout

On a serious note is there any news on super Kev yet ?

If we go out there and perform as our team is capable, we are more than enough to keep the dippers on their heels.
It could very well be the case of ridiculous possession stats etc, but can’t put the ball away(again).
I really hope Kun is on fire for this, turning Van Dick inside out.

You say that but every so often Vinny reminds us of the player he once was. In the league cup final he beat Aubameyang to the ball, and in a game of this size the whole team could be carried by his passion on the pitch, a crunching tackle on Salah early doors to get the crowd going even more for example.

Whilst Stones and Laporte are far more consistent, only De Bruyne and Fernandinho have that crowd pleasing passion to their games consistently. I feel this game is an occasion, like a derby, where form goes out of the window and you play your leaders who ou know can have a blinding 90minutes plus that inspires those around them.

That is my heart ruling my head of course.

I’d go win Vinny for his leadership, experience and sheer fuckyou-ness.

Stones got his arse given to him big time in the 4-3 last season.

I think if Pep and Klopp were offered a draw right now without having to play the game, they'd both take it.

Kompany to start this one, despite Stones being able to cut out and intercept as previously mentioned, this is a game where we need leadership.

Sane and Sterling must start too as cover to help the full backs by tracking back.
We need press resistant centre backs. That’s Stones and Laporte.

And certainly not Otamendi who gave them two cheap goals by panicking under the press last season.
