I'll ask the same question, are you looking straight at it or in relation to the 18 yard line? As that pic is really clear his front leg isn't level, it's ahead, as is his upper body. From the linesmans view point , that would have been even clearer.

The 18-yard-line. Laporte is hidden behind Ferdy as the last man. We'll have to disagree. The linesman has to give benefit of doubt to the attacker so it should have been allowed. Meanwhile the penalty decison was ridiculous. Atkinson must be one of the worst officials.

Totally unrelated as I couldn't find a "goals on sunday" thread.
Yesterday Ian Holloway was on the show and he was talking about his time at Blackpool when they was in the prem. They got relegated by one point and he said he received a letter from PGMOL apologising for decisions that cost Blackpool 9 points, he went on to say they listed the incidents and goals on sunday shown one of the incidents surprisingly against utd and surprisingly Peter Walton was the ref.
What was interesting was Ben and kammy's reaction to Holloway mentioning the letter, the pair of them looked like rabbits in the headlights and quickly started talking about something else.
Personally I didn't realise PGMOL did that!
Do they still do it because if they do they'll be running out of paper!
Why would you send a letter to a club after being relegated apologising for decisions that cost them?
Very fishy.

I agree about the penalty fully, I'm really not sure how there's even any argument about the pic though and I really don't think it was a tricky one for the linesman either, particularly as it was a dead ball situation.

Agree about Atkinson too, as I said earlier, thats twice in two games.

No, I'm saying that you've had the exact scenario you're saying played out just in the last week and MOTD gave them both equal time and criticism.

I don't think that offside is particularly close for a linesman to call from a freekick either to be honest, if you look at the difference in distance between them and the 18 yard line. From the linesmans angle, he'll see him as offside fairly comfortably

I wasn't that bothered by the offside. I think he is off, and it's certainly not a howler of a decision.

Because some of us may stretch evidence a little does not mean the entire premise of media bias is bogus. Media bias created brexit, carries it, keeps it stampeding to the cliff and over the edge. With nothing more than rumour and lies.
The sky/rags/diaper bias is entirely money driven, subscriptions/shirts/ad-revenue add up to billions, who or what threatens that is firmly in the firing line

I’ve only read the bbc, guardian and telegraph reports but the bbc don’t mention the handball at all, the telegraph says it was inadvertent and also says it was a clear penalty and the guardian said even if was given, we were dominant and deserved the win anyway.

I haven’t seen the VAR bit mentioned once aside from on MOTD, although I do think it’s newsworthy as it wasn’t a rule change that I knew was coming in before.

Which is either incompetence or corruption (though, some would argue corruption is always a form of incompetence).

And the media aren’t highlighting it at all.

There would be blanket coverage and an entire in-depth review and analysis segment on MOTD if the same thing had happened to any Liverpool player.

You’re not wrong there, they’d be holding a vigil at Klanfield if it happened to them.

That is what worries me. I have said many times and this will be my last on it, I've yet to see any proof that it hit his hand
or any part of his arm. Yet the pundits et al have all said it was, end of story. It's only going to get worse with VAR.

I have heard them say that VAR would only change anything that was 'clear and obvious'. There is nothing clear and obvious about that potential handball.

I don’t think it really matters though because as the law stands right now, I don’t think it should have been handball even if it did touch it. It was in no way deliberate or an unnatural position.
