Away tickets

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but, why not do something similar to the Champions League where the away club has to provide some top rated seats, but as an additional allocation. The Corporates could then only apply for those tickets if they so chose leaving the original allocation to the rest of us! I can't say I've ever seen any of these CL seats available to purchase through our ticket site......
I’m not sure if we ask for them. I do know we got some for Basel but that was through a player allocation

Just to clarify, are you saying you don't want points for away games?

I put the word incentivising in quotation marks because it was referring to 'non ticket point' incentives in the post I was replying to. Admit it, you already knew that didn't you? :-)

The system is simple but far from perfect, it decides who is worthy of an away ticket based on the effort they have put in over the last 15 years or so.

It's main flaw is that young people need to be given a chance to catch up. I've often posted on various threads saying I think a 5 year rolling period would fix this. But recently I've been trying to flesh this idea out and I'm not sure it's feasible. I'll post something tomorrow or Friday and see what people think.

Would you want a group of 200 scouser sat in the home end?
Who pays for the seats and which club gets what?
Who pays for the extra segregation and stewarding?

I think they mean introduce it in domestic fixtures.

Ok, to my quoted post

I was sat with fucking 200 scousers at the CL quarter final in the Etihad and the police and stewards did fuck all and when I complained they said blame the club, they sold them the tickets

Do you think it’s a fair set up?
It is the most fair system.

In its present format it is discriminatory to young people, so the issue is that it is cumulative from one point in time. The solution should be to tweak the system rather than scrap it altogether, and make it a rolling 5 year period. This should appease any concerns and nullify any argument against it.

Do you believe that one day your loyalty will be rewarded and you’ll get tickets for the games you’re currently missing out on?
100% yes. If the system is a problem because our support is full of old people because the young people cant get tickets, then a particularly cold winter will put me first in the queue.

Well if we don't we should ask for them, as then we'd have more tickets and Schalke for example would have sold out at lower points!

We get them every Champions League game I think, it normally makes reference to the different entrances/seating areas in the packs that Lisa Eaton emails out.

I missed out on a ticket for Villarreal but had booked travel anyway (if only I'd booked with Thomas Cook eh!). I got a ticket in this separate allocation in the main stand through a friend of a friend of a friend who had hospitality. The ticket was in the main stand and I was sat with Mike Wedderburn, Kompany's dad, and 6 people wearing David Silva shirts amongst others.

Only time I remember these tickets being offered (at least publicly) to us peasants is Plzen where an extra 80ish tickets to add to the 600 general admission away tickets, but they were very expensive if memory serves.

In that case then a similar situation for PL matches could be brought in. The home club would get the proceeds as happens now and there would be more tickets for us peasants :)

On the one hand we complain about corporates diluting our away atmosphere, yet we don't want them in our home corporate areas because they're too rowdy, something's not stacking up?!

As has been mentioned a few times, its not necessarily people with corporate tickets at home using the tickets they have access to at away games.

Although it would mean more tickets at away games, I personally wouldn't be in favour of that proposal due to the reciprocal element at home games. I think Clubs would be worse off financially too so can't see them being receptive to it.

The clubs wouldn't be any worse off as they'd charge the same for the hospitality whether it be a home or an away supporter.

1) They would have to pay for additional stewarding that they don't currently have to (we have to for Champions League games and in my opinion its not enough)
2) No problem if that section sells out, but you wouldn't be able to sell tickets to home fans or even neutrals in there, whereas you can probably sell (and we do) a few tickets in a home section to an away fan. Empty seats = loss of revenue.

3,000 United or Liverpool fans is already 3,000 too many in my opinion. No need to give them any more.

Its a largely redundant argument for us seeing as so many of our games go to general sale. As ever it keeps coming back to United away and a handful of others each season.

In fact come to think of it, the only equally fair solution to all supporters (which I think is what we're hoping to achieve) would be to say absolutely no away fans at any big game. Nobody gets to go.

There we go. Problem solved. You're welcome.

Its ok, I'm just running through ideas to increase our away following. Another suggestion would be for the PL to increase the amount of away tickets from a maximum of 3000 to say 3,500 or 4,000; but obviously that wouldn't sit well with you.

I'm not keen on the idea of more supporters at our ground but if it meant more for us when we're away then I've not got a problem with the principle of us getting more tickets, I would encourage it obviously. I'm just trying to give a practical explanation as to why I don't think it is likely.

Most clubs dont bring 3,000 to us as it is, and we don't always take 3,000 when we're away. If you want to extend that to 4,000, then when we play Chelsea on Sunday, thats 1,000 tickets we would have sold at £55 (or whatever it is these days) and instead we'd be selling them at £30. Thats a £25k loss from one game - the clubs aren't going to support that.

Got to be a rolling period for the points.
Is a 50 year old who has been going home and away for 30 years more deserving than a 20 year old who has been going home and away for 10 years? I don’t think they are.

You have missed off two very important points.
The fifty year old has been attending for 60% of his life whilst the twenty year old only 50%.

Secondly when the 50 was 10 years in the club was fvcked and desperately needed the fans financial backing.
If it wasn"t for the fifty year olds we wouldn't have a club.
And that is why they are more deserving.
