Kyle Walker : 2018/19 performances

Criticism of Walker is over the top and reeking of entitlement. Here's a great player who's not as flashy so naturally people will be harsh, just like they are with Gundogan. And yet here's a guy who's only second to Bernardo in terms of games played since the start of last season. He's also a player that's been played in at least 4 differing roles for club and country with no time for rest and deserves the same time all our other players have had to develop.

He's playing because we have no-one better in that position. That is not a ringing endorsement.

Welcome Kyle, you are the newest member of the out club. I think once Gundo has a bad game you might be in the clear but for now keep your chin up...

Well I think he's awful and nowhere near good enough to play regularly for us imo. Yes he went through a bad batch where he was absolutely shocking, and yes he's through that and now playing better. But he still sticks out a mile in terms of his overall lack of footballing ability and frankly the shear number of really bad mistakes he makes. He can defend a bit, but he isn't consistent nor reliable and offers bugger all going forward. It's a NO from me.
Im with you on that

Think he's not had a great season so far and he's probably a first team player that could be improved on. That said, all in all I think he's been a solid enough signing. There aren't many world class fullbacks knocking around and we were desperate at the time for someone we knew could definitely come in and cut it in the premier league. He definitely improved us and I think his form has improved since his blip that culminated in his shocker against Palace. By the end of next season he will have turned 30 and we will have had three decent years out of him. Probably a good time to look at getting an upgrade in but with us also being able to say we've had a reasonable return from him. Would quite like to see Danilo given a few games at RB though.

If anyone thinks we could have done what we did last season without Kyle they're mistaken. His ability to get up and down the pitch is a big weapon for us.

Really? The ability to run up and down the pitch is a big weapon? You mean as opposed to players that lie down for 90 minutes?

Last season he was incredibly dynamic at both ends of the pitch, and was a big part of our success, and I don't see how that can be denied by anyone.

This season he's been a bit meh. In recent weeks he's rediscovered his defensive form, but he's not contributing much in an attacking sense. Seems to have lost confidence in his ability to overlap and get a dangerous ball across the 6 yard line.

Are you sure? I dont recall him being that offensive

Pep told him to stay back when benny was playing,if pep wanted him getting foward then he would be doing just that, maybe pep feels the wingers are doing enough getting crosses in,just a thought

Fair enough
I'd say not fair. Assists? What assists? What has he ever offered going forward? What he offers is a distraction and someone that when making overlapping runs is a number that must be accounted for but no real threat if he's given the ball. When he makes those runs Bernardo and KDB rarely take him seriously.

I dont disagree with you. My fair enough comment was simply acknowledging his opinion

I just wish he didn't have one major lapse of concentration in him per game.

He made an decent 7 assists last season. Not too bad for a RB.

Just the one this term, with 2 goals.

One of his assists last season was a 5 yard pass to Sane before his 25 yard curler against Liverpool. Another for Aguero’s solo goal away at Watford where he overhit the ball trying a bit of skill and it luckily went to Aguero. I’m not sure what the others were, but there was probably only one or two that actually came about from good attacking play by Walker.
